It Was a Small Act of Remembrance for Someone She Didn't Even Know.

It was a small act of remembrance for someone she didn't even know.

Often, it is the seemingly small acts we see in our lives that can have the most delray beach flowerimpact. Allow me to share this story.

On our morning walks, Larry and I have met many people that we see on a routine basis.  We gather little snippets of their lives each time we see them.

On several occasions, we’ve noticed Virginia stopping to pick some small flowers… just a few. I never paid much attention until we saw her today.

We stopped to say “hello” and she said that she likes to put a few flowers on a memorial marker along the sidewalk.   The lady being memorialized was only 37 years of age when she passed away...so young.

Virginia does not know who the young woman was but thinks her mother walks along the beach as well.

I followed her to the memorial site and she gently brushed aside some leaves on the marker.  She said that the other day, she saw that someone had left a beautiful bouquet of flowers, but they had been tossed aside and a beer bottle lay near it.

Virginia very gently laid the small flowers on the memorial site for this young lady that she doesn’t even know.

Kathy,

This illustrates so clearly the beauty we all have, and some of us express it, and some of us stiffle it.  What a beautiful story and moment you share with us.  This reminds me of Blanche du Bois's line in A Streetcar named desire, "Whoever you are, I have always depended upon the kindness of strangers!"

I love moments like this, and it comfort us and puts a smile on our faces.  We are all blessed to have Virginias around us. A

Kathy, now that's a great human interest story that tugs at my heart. It's those random acts of kindness that makes people like people. As Barbara Striesand would have said, "People, people who need people, are the luckiest people in the world!"

Empathy is perhaps the best human trait.  It's too bad more people don't know how to embrace that trait in themselves.

Alexandra- I so agree.  We need more people like Virginia.  When we see her in the morning, Larry and I can't help but smile. Ron and Alexandra Seigel

Patricia- that sums it up!  When I see how we (the majority of people around me)  are so quick to help others or offer assistance, I swell up with pride. Patricia Feager, MBA, GRI, Cert Negotiations Expert, Military Relo Prof

Rene- they truly do.  And, we may never know it, but that doesn't matter.

Patty- thanks.   We need more of these stories to make up for the other "stuff" we hear.

Sharon- She's as cute as a button and always with a smile. Sharon Tara

John- oh yes.  Wish we could bottle it up and give everyone a spoonful of it every day.

Chris Ann- I think we have it in us to do it, we just need to have people like Virginia setting examples for us.

That's a touching story . . . . of a caring person that does it without any knowing what she is doing.

Good luck and success.
