Our Wild Pet

BunnyThis little guy/gal has been hanging around since early spring/late winter.

We have become quite attached to him and are trying to name him but we have not settled on a name yet. The one person who is sure is my Bride who has named her Honey.

It's not good to get attached to a bunny in our neighborhood as we have one of those infamous "Cat Ladies" across the alley who has several cats and now 4 kittens roaming around as well. We also have a neighbor with 3 well trained hunting dogs as well.Play House

Currently Honey lives under Tina's playhouse which is probably the safest place in the neighborhood.

Minot has an animal control person but they never seem to go after the stray cats. I've trapped a few myself and taken them to the pound but now the City is not allowing people to catch stray cats themselves thus they just run amok and the problem gets worse.

Oh well, any suggestions as to what we should name the bunny or do you think my Bride has the answer with Honey?

Could you build a fenced enclosure that Honey Bunny couldn't burrow under?

We have rabbits here, too... but we also have foxes, eagles, and other predators, similar to your cats and hunting dogs.

David Shamansky that is funny. Our dog is so old he doesn't even chase the squirels or the bunny. He (Jack) has always been around my daughters critter pets and wouldn't even harm a mouse.

I thought about that Fred Griffin several times but then I'd be responsible for feeding him for the rest of his/my life. I'm still thinking about it however.

Hi Bob "RealMan" Timm , We had a friend that raised 2 cows.  They called them meatloaf and barbeque.  They were rasing them for food.  You could name the rabbit  "Stu"

I don't think the rabbit cares as long as it isn't supper.  We have all kinds of wildlife visiting us all year round.  The part I love of rural living.

Scat! Shoo! My Sister use to raise Rabbit's when we were in elementary school. I have no idea how she ever got rid of them.

Hey Joni Staples I was thinking about putting lettuce in the garden just for him.

I'm with you Larry Johnston on the name Stu but I think my Bride is going to win this one.

Even though we are not rural William Feela we see a lot of wild life because of the coolies that run town. Last week we had two adult deer in our backyard.

My daughter would disown me if I did anything to sho them away Evelyn Johnston and truth be told I like the bunny too.

Of course Honey is perfect. I don't want to see any rabbits in my garden. Those vegetables are for me.

Debbie Reynolds oddly enough they have never bothered our garden in the past. Unlike Bugs Bunny they seem to even leave the carrots alone.

Bob,

We used to have a number of rabbits in our neighborhood until residents of the area let their unwanted cats out the door to fend for themselves.  Totally irresponsible pet owners I say.

Honey sounds good to me for your bunny.

Honey it is, especially since your honey already named the bunny! Very cute, but may not last the summer; I know cats.
