With the Presidential Election of 2008 already taking a larger amount of newsprint so early in the election. Do you or don't you express your political views in your real estate business? My thought is if I had a bumper sticker on my vehicle supporting one party or another it might turn off either clients or potential clients. What do you think and how do you handle it?

Have 2 bumper stickers, one for each. If you know the area you could switch them. Being serious I would do neither because I am about selling homes. Its all about the person and not you.

Rick I have been talking politics with people since I formed a political club (non partisan) in High School. Having said that, I don't bring up the topic. I tend to talk issues anyway and not parties so if a client brings it up I'm comfortable with a conversation. But Eric is right, this is about them buying a home. So there is no reason for me to wear the political discussion on my sleeve it's counterproductive. If they read my blogs they will get an idea of how I feel about issues. I do remember a client (after we had seen about four homes) smiling and saying that this was a stressful thing to do but much better than reading about the war in Iraq all day long. Or fighting in that war. I smiled and said I was impressed at his ability to decide someone else always has more stress lol

I don't usually link to my own blog post in a comment but thought you might find this one interesting.  Everyone in town knows my politics.  I'm not in your face with it and it seems to work.

Noooooo.  Don't participate in discussions of religion, politics or parenting.  Three things for which there can be distinct difference of opinions and I keep mine to myself.

I try and stay neutral on everything....The hardest time to stay neutral is when the Buyers start to disagree with eachother and try to get me involved....

It may be a little easier for me because Flagstaff is filled with Democrats. I find it helps to be active -- it's a way to get to know people and let them know you are a good citizen.
