Several years ago I read in Time or Newseek that Bethesda, MD has more restaurants per capita than any other city in the United States - including Manhattan. That seemed like an overstatement - but we definitely do like our restaurants in Bethesda.
The Bethesda Curry Kitchen opened recently at 4860 Cordell Avenue, a quiet street on the north side of Old Georgetown Road. The restaurant celebrates the cuisine of Hyderabad, a city known for its Mughlai cuisine. It has been on our list of places that we wanted to try and since yesterday was a day devoted to running errands and the like, carry out seemed to be the perfect idea for dinner.
We picked pretty traditional foods for our first visit to Bethesda Curry Kitchen. We had samosas and crispy spinach to start. The samosas seemed light and the crispy spinach was delicious. We also got chicken Saag (with spinach), tandoor shrimp and an exceptional okra dish with dried mango. Just click here to see the rest of the menu!
The wait staff seemed like a mom and pop family run business with a darling little two year old wandering through the restaurant. The food was authentic and delicious and the restaurant decor was pleasant. I wish them well!
