I've been waiting for some winter weather.  Not because I particularly like it.  I do not.  But, I believe that someone in a garden shop once told me that tulip bulbs bloom better if they get a good freeze during the winter months.  I don't know if it's true but I figure he knows more than I so, when it freezes I just say, "Good for the tulip bulbs."

Snow is beautiful.  The images below are a reflection of a driving tour on February 16, 2007, a day following the snow fall the day before.  This snow was particularly difficult because following the snow, it rained and then we went into a deep freeze.  Two days later, the snow has just begun to melt in 35 degrees on Saturday.

Enjoy

Beauty in the Snow  Lovettsville, VA 2/17/2007.  A simple piece of landscaping when photographed against the snow background looks like a fine piece of lace.  Nature never ceases to amaze me.  Just look at the conformation.  The simple symmetry is visual perfection.

My home in Lovettsville VA  My home in Lovettsville, VA after the first snow of the year.  Hopefully, all of the landscaping will fare well with the deep freeze.  With this much snow melting, the Rhododendron plants will probably not have to be watered during the summer.  My fingers are crossed.

Tollhouse Raod a day after the snow fall.   Hurray, the snow plow came by.      I didn't know if the road would be plowed or if I would have a 4 wheel adventure getting out for a termite inspection yesterday.  Not a problem.  It seems that our road receives basic county services.  Whew.

Lenn that panoramic view of the Potomac is fabulous thank you for posting it I needed that :-)

I still have not cut back my rose bushes; it was too warm up until two weeks ago! Apparently they need to be cut back the way tulips need a blast of frost.

Lenn, what a bunch of fabulous pictures, and what a lovely home you have! Thanks for the weather stats, liked all except the humidity, lived in Texas and didn't like it there either. I bet you have some great fall pictures as well.

Lenn, beautiful pictures....especially love the lyrical quality of the picture with the caption:
