Marketing and Vehicle Signage?

By
Home Inspector with Pillar To Post

This question is for all the real estate professionals out there:  Does vehicle signage, brand affiliation, logos, etc. influence your decision of what home inspector you use?  The reason I ask is simple, as home inspectors we have to keep our name and brand ever-present through vehicle lettering, branded shirts, branded inspection reports, etc.  I for one spend a lot of money on my advertising, roughly ten percent of my yearly gross revenue is dedicated to advertising on some level.

I am about to make the leap and get my vehicle wrapped with our franchise logo and I want to see how well this is generally received among the real estate community.  I am under the impression that a strong brand and logo that is simply everywhere leaves an image of permanence - something that is supposed to be valuable in this industry.

Your thoughts are very much appreciated.

Regards,

Tom

The logos on the vehicle do not influence my decision. I have had advertising on my car and found that it did not increase my buisness- maybe just the area I'm in.

I have my information stenciled on my vehicle windows and so far it hasn't gravitated any business toward me - at least not that I know of.  Other agents have said it works.  We'll have to see!

Hi Tom:

The vehicle wraps do keep your name at the top of the mind, however it would not influence my decision in recommending a qualified home inspector to my clients.

Have a great day!

I think you can spend money better than this, to brand your name.

Sponsor a Realtor coffee or something to take them through your inspection process, discussing the things a great inspection.

I only make a note of the information on such signage infrequently. Often, I make a recommendation from a sit-down over coffee, and discuss what will happen for the client during the inspection process.

As "That Realtor Guy (in Shorts)" I bring som eattention when there is snow on the ground, and set people at ease with a comfortable demeanor, but aas they hear what I ofer, they find that it isn't about me, but about exceeding their expectations. I also try to find some special wants in what I offer.

Pillar to Post as a whole offers good service. What I would really be interested in more is how you exceed service quality, so you're not "just another inspector." It's like the dress code I have: Hawaiian shirts and cargo shorts, with a pair of crocs - all year long, rain, snow or shine. It definitely leaves an impression, because poeple are now asking if I am "the Realtor guy" they are hearing about. It's an ice breaker and a conversation starter. Then the really serious discussion of their market areas comes into play. I wqork in nearly a third of the state in my little sports car, with a tablet, aircard, cell phone and beefy invertor to power it all.

I am out there in the public with the people, stmping many neighborhoods, offering to help them make hte best of their investment, whether buying, selling, or trying t o help them keep their homes.

I offer services otehrs don't want to. I go t people to serve them first, and I take an active interest in helping them better their lives. I think that is where you have to be nowadays, to combat the bad press being leveled against our entire industry.

I have had some type of advertising on my car for the past three years, and have only received one client from it, that I am aware of.  But, that one client was worth the cost.  I don't have my car wrapped, as the quotes I received were very high.  Have you considered a lower cost alternative?  Magnets are much cheaper, still look good, and will likely have the same impact.

I think it's a very good idea.  I just couldn't bring myself to do it to my car.  Actually, I wouldn't be allowed to park my car in the plantation I live in if it was decorated that way.

I have had personalized license plate frames, website and all, as well as the magnets......I never got anything from it, although a co-worker did get something while he was getting gas........go with the magents, you can remove them and it will still do the same thing.  Go with the t-shirts .....and maybe coupons.....

It's not going to increase your business overnight, it's all about brand recognition.  You are branding your name and getting it familiar to people.  When someone see's a burger king commercial, the local burger king doesn't have people lined up for a whopper minutes after the commercial aired.  It is building a brand, so people become familiar with the brand.

I look for someone who is ASHI certified, knows what they are talking about, and is professional.  The other stuss is good for getting attention, but at the end of the day I reccommend inspectors that will do the best jobs for my customers.

Speaks nice and loudly for you and your profession, Thomas. It will increase your business volume and create a good name for you in your community. When your not networking your truck is still working twenty four hours a day. In addition to all of the great benefits, if it's ever stolen it'll be easier to find. :-)

I think it will be good for the community that you live in the most, it will be recognized by the people who see yor vehicle the most, so when someone thinks inspector you will auto pop in their mind, but you should follow up with other marketing items too.

Thomas...  I have to say when we vehicle wrapped our Armada, it was the best thing for advertisement.  Our community knows us and we are everywhere, there have been times when people have followed us to get a card and we've done business with them.  It's flattering.  Check it out........

Thomas: I would not say it would be a deciding factor. I would say it would be a great way for name reconition and increased calls.
