Gift Card Tracker

By
Real Estate Agent with Fathom Realty

As you know gift cards are wonderful gifts.  What you may not know is that they can be worthless if not used.  Some business's have expiration dates and or maintenance fees on the cards.  Did you know that there was 97 billion dollars in gift card value in 2007?  I didn't.  Well here is a site you can go to check out your gift cards.  You do know where the gift cards are don't you?  Go to www.giftcardtracker.com  and check them out.   The site lets you check expiration policies as well as find out if there are any maintenance fees on the cards.  You can register your card while you are there.  We can thank Ken Hawkins in Chesapeake, Va for this wonderful site.

Gene that is a cool site. I will have to check that out. I get and give gift cards all the time and this is a great centralized place to look everything up.

Thank you for letting us know.  The only people that would actually win on that would be the company that issued the card.  They should also notify the purchaser, because they in turn can notify the recipient.

Thank you and keep up the good work.

This is great thanks for sharing it.

Also if you see that a company is looking like they are in financial trouble in the headlines, use your gift card for that company immediately . If they file a chapter so they can reorganize, their gift cards are no longer good. For example Sharper Image.

You hit the nail on the head with your question "do you know where your gift cards are"?  Our biggest problem is loosing the cards.

Nice to know about that site. I once had a gift card for a company that went out of business shortly after I received it. And it was a company that had been around since I was a child. They used to give out embossed coins for gift cards. I still have the coin!! (sentimental now:)

Thanks for the website, I really like giving Gift Cards as closing gifts.   I use to use a company that had a website and you would give the customer a card that gave them credit to buy their own closing gift from this website, but that was limiting.
