Last night I watched a brilliant performance from Lebron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers, whom many are saying is the best basketball player on the planet. But Lebron’s 44 points, all of his assists, rebounding, and great defense was not enough to beat the Golden State Warriors. Yes, Even Lebron can’t do it all alone. He needs a supporting cast to step up and be accountable.
It’s the same in our real estate industry too. It doesn’t matter if it’s buying or selling a home, both the buyers and sellers need the assistance of a real estate professional, and all of his supporting staff which include all the necessary vendors to get from contract to closing. No, You Can’t Do it Alone!
It takes a team effort to get everything accomplished for our clients, who are buying or selling a home. If you’re buying, it starts with the mortgage professional who does the pre-approval, then, the real estate professional helps to find the right home, and gets it under contract. Next, the home inspector comes on the scene, followed by the appraiser, and finally the closing by the Escrow Officer or Attorney at the Title Company. There maybe other vendors in the mix along the way like repairmen, contractors, residential home warranties, and even the HOA’s(Home Owners Associations). They all play a vital role in the home buying process that leads to that final closing. One can plainly see there’s a lot on interaction with all these professionals to assist the homebuyer. Each professional performs his tasks in detail to meet the needs of their clients.
Now, take a closer look at the home selling process. It all starts with the homeowner hiring a real estate professional to list, and to market their home to find a buyer. Just placing the home in the MLS, and leaving a lockbox and sign in the front yard is not sufficient for many listing agents. Advertising and marketing takes a lot of time and effort too. Taking professional looking photos, and offering virtual tours is becoming a standard practice for many listing agents. There maybe even home staging professionals hired to get the home in excellent showing condition. Repairs may also have to be done prior to placing the home on the market too. Some listing agents have assistants, who will accomplished a lot of the required paperwork. Plus, there are steps to go through from contract to closing on the listing side too, which include a team of other professionals. Yes, you may try to sell your home on your own, but you still need to utilize the services of an attorney, title company, and even a mortgage company. These are all vital players of a team to get the home SOLD. No, You Can’t Do it Alone!
