It sounds amazing, but I did a home inspection in the Amazon.  Heres' the picture to prove it.  I don't know why they needed electricity in the Amazon?

main electrical panel

Okay, okay, you got me, I wasn't really in the Amazon, but it sure felt like it when I had to access the main electrical panel.  Can you imagine trying to get to this panel in an emergency?

Just a friendly reminder to keep the proper clearances to your main electrical panel.  There should be clearances of at least 30-inches wide and 3-feet deep to allow proper access to the electrical panel.

I hope this gives you a little more information about home inspections and their value.  Be safe out there.

Is it common to have the electrical panel on the outside of the house in your area?

I have never seen it in Ohio, except for the occasional trailer park.

Oh, and tell Bwanna that I parked the elephant out back.

Did you have your handy machete with you?  Your right, tough to get to in an emergency, if you knew where to look that is.

Kevin, yes, all I see around here is the main panel and meter outside.

David, I just used a weed wacker.

I have never heard of a main electrical panel being outside of the house or garage.  Apparently that is common there?  I wonder if that is because of earthquakes for some reason?  Pretty interesting...

Derek, it is all I have ever seen around here.  I have heard it is so the fire department can shut off the power in case of an emergency.  Makes sense to me.

Richard, it was interesting.

Georgina, where are they located otherwise?  The Garage?

Sandra, one would think so  :-)

No problem as long as you don't have any critter problems.

Joseph,

Great picture... now we need to show people our spelunking skills....

I was in a 3 ft high crawl space with a muddy floor..... was definitely cave material.  I wanted to leave a marked trail to find my way out.

LOL, I'm just surprised that it wasn't a rose bush, bougainvillea or some other thorny plant.  That's usually what I find blocking them.  I've even seen pictures of a bootleg shower stall with removable panels, tile and all, that covered both the electrical subpanel and the FAU access.

Glenda & Steven, it is a problem if it blocks access to the electrical panel (which may need to be turned off in an emergincy). Also, wet plants resting on the wall can cause moisture problems.

Lynette, we are jacks of many trades  :-)

Rick, it's never dull out there.

Dana, I'm certainly glad there were no thorns.
