Venezuela and Quatar have little in common for all their oil riches.

And that is because that is where all their similarties end.  The difference between the two countries' success and failures is simple.  Whereas Quatar re-invested all of it's oil profits in real estate, Venezuela put all of its trust into the hands of a greedy tyrant who bought his way into power with the promise of Socialist riches for everyone. 

This is what it looks like for hungry Venezuelans every day.  These people are waiting in line for groceries for hours and will be lucky to just walk away with some milk and eggs.  This is a clear example of how greed and money in the wrong hands can cripple even a very wealthy country.  This explains why so many Venezuelans are leaving and migrating to the Miami area with all of their cash.  Pretty soon there will be no upper class in Venezuela and just poor.  I believe that is what the government there wants.  If their citizens have to depend on them for everything they can stay in power indefinitely. 

But this is where people in Quatar go shopping.   Notice the difference?  Yes, Quatar may be a monarchy, but this is a monarchy that re-invests its profits like a business for the benefit of all of its citizens.  Nobody in Quatar is starving or waiting in line for food.  In fact, there are so many jobs there that most employees have to be brought in from abroad.  You don't see anyone from Quatar emigrating to the US much do you?  There is not reason to.  Life is good in Quatar if you are a native. 

This just proves my point that investing in real estate for the long term is your best bet for financial rewards.  Even countries do it and this is a clear cut example of one that has been very successful at it.  Any small time investor can take a page out of the Quatar real estate manual.  Venezuela is a clear cut example of how Socialism does not work.
