Taste of Lebanon June 12 & 13 in Waterbury CT

The 15th annual Taste of Lebanon Festival will be held this weekend, June 12 and 13 at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 8 East Mountain Rd, Waterbury CT.

Taste authentic Lebanese cuisine at the Lebanese Food Festival on the church grounds.

 

Some of the delicacies being offered are:
grape leaves
taboolee  parsley salad with tomato and onions
hummous  chick pea appetizer
kabobs  chicken and beef
shawarama, (Gyro) grilled beef served on a pita bread with tomato, onion, and tahine sauce
hot dogs and hamburgers
and of course those delicious Middle Eastern pastries.

The three-Day outdoor and indoor festival in its 15th year will have Lebanese food; a live Middle Eastern band with singers; entertainment by a group of traditional Lebanese Dancers, a showing of Lebanon's traditions and customs, as well as children and family activities, like face painting, dance lessons and board games.

There will also be a raffle for valuable prizes.

 

The festival hours;
 Friday   6 pm to Midnight
 Saturday, 12 Noon to 12 Midnight

Probably not much Lebanese food that I could eat except for hummus (love) and tabouli (also love). Gotta stay away from rice and I sure as heck don't eat beef! (Vegie since '74...I don't think I'm changin' now...)

But some of that is really quite healthy! Fun--are ya goin'??

Why is it whenever I hear about Lebanon I think of Corporal Klinger??? M.A.S.H. was such a great show and Kilinger played a great character. One of the many things I liked about Klinger was his pride of being Lebanese. He was so domesticated, which makes me smile and wish I could be there to attend this great Church Festival.

I would certainly be there for this event if I lived closer. I already love a lot of the foods you mentioned. In my rural area it difficult to get a taste of certain types of ethic foods.
