Communication: Lack thereof

By
Real Estate Agent with Atlanta Communities 303302

Several things have popped up on my radar in the last several days that involved communication, or the lack thereof. The Real Estate business is one where good communication skills are so important. Without these skills, you can find your deal falling apart, and not even knowing why.

I sent an email to the buyers agent last night letting them know where the house key was located, because I took my lockbox away. The closing is today. The agent responded, thanks and oh by the way, the closing has been moved back 2 1/2 hours. What? No one told me this until now? I have been in constant contact with the agent and the closing attorney and not a whiff of this delay. Glad I found out before I sat there waiting on everyone.

Another example? My video editor is working with a friend of mine. He is waiting for my friend to get him some information. The friend is awaiting information from the editor. Guess what they got done this week? Nothing.

I am not sure you can ever over-communicate. I know how easy it is to under-communicate.

Most annoying.....lack of communication is one of the most frustrating things to me.  We never know what ads my boss puts in the paper until we get a customer showing up saying "I saw you have a 20% mattress sale this week only".....it's news to us most of the time.  Makes us looks like idiots.

Lack of comminucation can start a chain reaction of negative events. We have to stay vigilant to make sure everyone stays in the loop!
