The weather is heating up, but that shouldn’t stop you from participating in some of the coolest events that Charleston, SC has to offer. And with all of the new homes for sale in Charleston lately, it comes as no surprise there’s so much to do. Here’s a sampling of the best of the best:

 

Piccolo Spoleto USA Festival - May 22 through June 7

 

The perennial art festival of the Holy City, Piccolo Spoleto combines modern art shows and exhibits with a traditional beauty and charm that can only come from an event created by a Pulitzer Prize winner.

 

Each year is then capped of with a fantastic finale event that features special musical guests, food and drink vendors, all while in the company of fellow arts enthusiasts.

 

Summer Splash Bash - June 4

 

The best way to beat the heat and entertain the little ones, the Summer Splash Bash provides children with a collection of free, water-based activities and ample opportunities to swim. Held at the Park West Recreation Complex in Mt. Pleasant, it will run from 2 to 6 p.m.

 

Father’s Day at Wild Blue Ropes - June 21

 

A freebie for all of the fathers out there. James Island ropes course, Wild Blue Ropes, will host a father-focused family adventure day on June 21. Just enter the code “DADSDAY” when you order a family adventure package online and pops will get to climb for free.

 

Naturalization Ceremony at Middleton Plantation - June 26

 

Starting at 10 a.m., the yearly Naturalization Ceremony will commemorate the idea of natural-born citizenry through a flag presentation, keynote speech and an Oath of Allegiance. Attendance is free with paid admission.

 

Following the ceremony, guests will be invited to explore the rest of the plantation grounds, with scheduled tours running for the rest of the day.

 

Shine and Whiskey Workshop - June 27 and 28

 

A collaborative effort among local and national distillers, this two-day workshop will teach attendees the ins and outs of the distillation process. Highly educational with plenty of opportunities for hands-on interaction, this workshop is a can’t-miss event.

 

Tickets for the event are $1500 per person (includes catered lunch and distilling supplies), and with only ten spots available, it’s liable to fill up fast.
