Special Thanks To:

Joe Mier, SRA
Louisiana Real Estate Appraiser Coalition
Louisiana Real Estate Appraisers Board
Appraisal Institute's Support of Appraisers Nationwide
Voice of Appraisal Power Bloggers

THE Most Important Voice Of Appraisal Show To Date! THANK YOU JOE MIER, SRA!

LAREACWhat happened in Louisiana with Coester AMC discipline was on behalf of ALL Home Appraisers across our Nation, not just for Louisiana Appraisers! It grew teeth in the Dodd-Frank provisions going forward on your behalf!

Phil Crawford, after interviewing LREAC President, Joe Mier, SRA, explains in detail how Louisiana legally did what they did with Coester AMC via the independent Southeastern Louisiana University C&R Fee Study, and that there's more AMCs under investigation.

Phil compares the successful action taken by Louisiana as a State Coalition, how Leaders in Appraisal should be supporting Appraisers nationwide, to the lack of action by both Appraisal Institute and Appraisal Foundation. Phil has some very strong words for both organizations, on why App Inst. is losing membership and why App Foundation is losing credibility.

What Appraisers are so glad of is that we FINALLY have a voice now...and that didn’t happen until State Coalitions were in place. In Louisiana, it was an Appraisal Institute SRA leading the charge, so I’m thankful for A.I.

I do personally have high respect for the Appraisal Institute, the professional path they paved for our profession and I grew up in a family of A.I. members. My Grandfather was an MAI and President of the Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter and we attended summer conferences in Biloxi each June. My Dad is a long time MAI. Tom Horn and Joe Mier are SRAs and bring huge credibility to our profession.

Frankly IMO, we were better off before "State Certification" in 1989 which opened the doors for the less educated to grab 120 hours at a local mickey mouse real estate school, perform a little OJT and boom, they were Appraisers. It also opened up the profession or industry to the fraudsters that played a part in the collapse of national economy in 2007-2011. No, I'm not an A.I. designated member due to not having a college degree and can guarantee you I've self educated and attended so much CE to try to get over that hurdle. I do have 123 of 129 hours at LSU and just couldn't pass College Algebra in order to take the next Math to graduate. I took College Algebra 6 times, the last 4 from middle eastern professors I couldn't understand.

Looking forward to blogging 400,000 more points! Bill Cobb Appraiser 225-293-1500
