I heard a story about it on the public radio. I will be honest and tell you I had not heard of it before perhaps due to living in the northeast. The radio station played a recording from 1948 (Library of Congress) of an elderly lady who was released in Texas in June 19th. It was quite real and jarring to listen to.  Not that long ago in the scheme of lifetimes. Good post to remind us of the celebration and it also serves as a reminder that "we have not heard the fat lady sing yet"
