There is another planned launch from Cape Canaveral next Friday June 26th at 11:09pm. A Dragon spacecraft will be sent to the International Space Station (ISS). This launch is delivering food and supplies which include science experiments and research for the ISS crew. Also on board will be one of two adapters that will help with future docking of spacecrafts including the Boeing CST-100.
This will also be the third time that the rocket will attempt a landing on a platform barge floating in the Atlantic Ocean off of the coast. If successful, the Falcon 9 rocket will slow down from 2900 mph to 559 mph and then finally to 5 mph when the landing legs with deploy. The platform is 300 by 100 feet in size so landing specifications have to be pretty accurate. However, to date, SpaceX has successful launched and complete eight of eight missions.
