There are so many special places in the Berkshires, in western Massachusetts, that make honing in on one very difficult. Since there have been numerous opportunities that have asked each of us to focus on the different or unique places in our area, I have chosen a new one for the June Cloudburst Challenge. The Mount is Edith Wharton's home and it is a place worth visiting. I have seen theater there and also toured the house and now there is a sculpture exhibit on the grounds.
Like so many of the fabulous period homes and estates in the Berkshires, this place mirrors the views of the area and the style of homes from Europe that many of these notables had, or visited. Wharton lived happily here and wrote a great deal, while she pondered her life and was surrounded by friends from this area and around the world.
