WebTV Realtor - Corpus Christi REALTOR Helps Solve Window's XP Sound Control Panel Issue (SndVol32.exe)

April 14, 2008

WebTV Realtor: Corpus Christi - Padre Island, Texas

Mr. C. KIM McGuire is helping people resolve their PC sound control panel issues.

With Window's XP and various updates and downloads, many people have seen their PC speaker volume control disappeared. Very tough and complicated fix trying to research Microsoft, internet blogs, and manufacturer's online and 1-800 help centers outsourced to different countries.

Here's the FIX if your PC volume control has disappeared and you are searching for "SndVol32.exe" file on your PC.

  • Press the Window's green "start" button on the bottom left corner of your monitor.
  • Click on "Run..." at the very bottom of the second Column of menu items.
  • Now search in your hard drive for the mysterious SndVol32.exe file.
  • In the "Run" pop up window, type in "c:\windows/system32"
  • When all the folders open up, then go to the very top of your Window's tool bar and Click on "Tools," "Folder Options," and then Click on "View"
  • In the "View" pop up window, look at the "Advanced settings:" window.
  • Check "Display the contents of system folders" [NOTE: uncheck this after everything has been accomplished! If this is not unchecked later, then there's a chance of accidently deleting/moving VERY Important files/folders for proper PC and program functions!]
  • Check "Show hidden files and folders" under "Hidden files and folders." This will allow you to search and see for the "missing" file "SndVol32.exe."
  • You may have more than one "system32" folders. Make sure that View folders and Display the contents of system folders is is checked. Otherwise, the SndVol32.exe file may remain hidden.
  • In the System32 folder, search for a Folder called  "dllcache.
  • In the "dllcache" folder, find the "sndvol32.exe" file. Right click over that file and Copy the file.
  • Go back to the "system32" folder and Paste the "SndVol32.exe" file in that folder.
  • NOTE: Don't forget to uncheck the View folders as mentioned earlier. There are two items to uncheck.

If you can't find the SndVol32.exe file, then check your backup system disk. And then copy and paste into the System32 folder.

That should fix the problem and get your sound volume control back on the bottom of the Window's toolbar and for more advanced sound control options.

Good luck!
