Thank You Officer Patterson and the Boca Raton Police
What started out as a visit to the dentist today ended up with my phone being stolen. Hard to believe but true.
After making a followup appointment and entering it on my calendar, Maggie reminded me to take my phone, which was on the counter. I took the phone and made a stop in the ladies room downstairs. On my way out, I noticed two women in scrubs had come into the bathroom.
When I got to my car, I realized I did not have my phone but I had my iPad. Luckily, I had downloaded the app Find My Phone which showed my phone was still in the building. I headed back to the ladies room. The women and my phone were no where to be found. There was a man working on his laptop in the lobby who gave me managment company's number. No answer.
I went back up to Maggie to tell her what happened. Then proceeded to go from medical office to medical office asking about my phone. No one knew anything. Back to Maggie who told me she had called my phone and a man answered.
Now I called the non-emergency number for the Boca Raton Police. They would send someone. Maggie and I went downstairs to look around the parking lot (until we realized how did a man answer my phone - but it was hot and I was desperate!)
Up pulled Officer Patterson of the Boca Raton Police Department. He immediately took charge and checked Find My Phone. Within a few minutes, he said to me, Your phone has left the building and is headed west on Glades Road. I'm going to get it. We quickly exchanged numbers and he was gone in a flash. So I headed home.
My head was reeling with thoughts of how lucky I was that Officer Patterson showed up. Would he get my phone? Thank heavens I don't do banking on my phone. How lost I would be without it. My whole business is on there, contacts, etc. Would I have to buy a new one? How we all have become so dependent on our phones, etc, etc. I was exhausted by this time. This particular building in Boca Raton is a courtyard building and there was very little air conditioning, if any, in the courtyard.
A happy ending! I want to give a great big shout out to Officer Patterson of the Boca Raton Police Department who called Richard before I got home that he had my phone and would drop it off! Amazing work! Thank you Officer Patterson for an outstanding job today. I will be forever grateful. You and the Boca Police have my vote!!! If there is anything I can do for you or the department, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you again.
