Saturday Smiles: Surprise Bean At The Santa Barbara Farmers Market

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

Do you know what this plant and the pods contain?  I would love to hear your guesses.

Here is the answer.  It is a garbanzo bean plant.  It brought back memories of sitting outside with my mother and her friends peeling these pods for delicious fresh garbanzo beans.  As they dry, they turn a garbanzo yellow...

Wishing you lots of Saturday Smiles,

So that is where hummus comes from!  Never seen them in such a raw state,  these are great for you and taste great.

Debbie Reynolds this was a total surprise to me...the last time I saw them was when I was a kid in Beirut...

Joanna Cohlan they are really good raw, and we both love hummus.  I am a purist like the classic with added olive oil, lemon, and topped with pomegranate seeds.

Endre Barath, Jr. there is a big difference from the canned ones.  My mother used to make hummus by soaking dry beans, and then grinding them...taste so much better.

Debb Janes the french make a thin bread out of garbanzo flour and it is a specialty in Nice.
