It is said "that there but for the grace of G-d go I." I travel a lot and have have enjoyed wonderful experiences, terrific people and breathtaking scenery. I have also watched poor people struggle for little, children enduring unthinkable obscenities, and those with nothing be kind to those with more. In this world there are many who couldn't imagine what it is like to have a bed, or running water, or even a meal with regularity.
I wish I had known this along time ago, but I didn't. I grew up thinking things were really pretty easy and for me this was true. I wanted to be happy and in that I succeeded, but now I understand how very lucky I am. Life is very fragile and for many, more difficult than I could ever imagine. Now that I know better, I hope I can do better.
