When I get together with my very good friends for game night, as a warm-up we will play an impromptu game we call, “I thought I’ve Seen IT All Until I Saw …”

When it comes around to my turn, they will ask me to relate my real estate experiences.  When you review my blog-library you will find stories on some of the more interesting things I’ve encountered.

I don’t think I’ve ever wrote about seeing fragments of weaved hair on the pavement while driving on my way to tour a home.  I don’t think I’ve ever written about the full unfinished basement in a home in Country Club Hills, Illinois, filled from front to rear with extensive collections of adult magazines; enough to fill a suburban library.

My flesh wanted to stop and be noisy, but my professionalism guided me to keep the tour moving, and forget about that address, unless of course the Buyer wanted to make an offer.  You can guess they did not select that home, so I accidently on purpose erase the address from my memory bank.

I remember an Elderly Lady greeted us at the door.  It was a big effort for her to make it back to her chair in the Living room near the Foyer front door.  She looked too old to even think about climbing those basement stairs.  I thought, I wonder if she even knows this inventory is even stored down there?  She certainly did not warn us about what we might encounter.

I’ve also had some Ghosts experiences, but I’ll save those for another time.  Right now, I want you to enjoy a very different kind of funny experience my respected Colleague had on a recent tour of a home.

I can't remember how many times I've said, "I've seen it all now," in this business, but it's a lot. And, just when I think I've truly seen it all, something happens that makes me scratch my head and realize there is so much to see.

I've shown homes with people sleeping, someone in the shower, couples having sex, squatters, someone drying marijuana plants, and, and, and. This week I hit another first. I was showing a farmette, and while walking through the paddock to visit the stables, a horse walked up started eating my property printouts.

Yep, with one fell swoop, he reached out and grabbed the papers out of my hand and started chewing them up. My client, who is a horse owner, reached out and grabbed them and wrestled them out of the horse's mouth and she gave them back to me. They were slimy, chewed up versions of their former self, but it reminded me that everyday is new in this business.

So, the next time you're tempted to say, "I've seen it all now," hold off. The next showing might just bring about another first.
