Why You Should Always Proofread Your Real Estate Ad

My Mom pointed out this little gem from the Roswell, New Mexico newspaper and it is a perfect example of why you should always proofread, and then read again before you submit. But then again, we wouldn't have ads like these to have for good Monday morning chuckle.

Here are a few one-liners/questions that might be asked about this property.  How many can you come up with?

1) Is this property being marketed to mermaids?

2) If this pool has a closet, can we call it a 5th bedroom?

3) Do life-preservers convey with the property?

4) This could be the perfect home for you if Michael Phelps is a frequent guest.

With monitor shrink its size we tend to spend less time proof read and typo shows up.  For example, a house priced $625000  shows as $62500 or $6250000

mess up the intend.   It is best to have another agent to proof it for you to make sure info is accurate.

I am thinking that there is a water bed within the guest room, but should someone not want to use it as a water bed, they can open it up and take a swim, haha.

Anything that is going out before the public eye should be proof read in my opinion, but you are correct that some mistakes we see can provide entertainment. Hopefully that's a far as it goes for a few chuckles because some mistakes can cost you dearly.

I think Sam may be onto something with his #1 comment about "monitor shrink" being a cause for some ad errors.  Proof reading on tiny screens can be more difficult!

So many mistakes are made when we rush.   Advertising needs to be well thought out.

Oops.  That one simple word OR takes the focus right off the property and on to the ding dong who wrote it.
