Check Out Your Local Farmer's Market

Something amazing has happened to America.  People care what they eat and equally important, where their food comes from.  With the increasingly popularity of fitbits, exercise, healthy food; you can now add local Farmer's Markets to the list.

As a local business owner myself, I fully support the local farmers and vendors that locally grow and sell fresh produce, eggs, and meats.  Here are a few Farmer's Markets that have made a name for themselves in the Northern Virginia area.

A few of the local vendors that shouldn't be missed:

1. http://www.westmorelandberryfarm.com/  Located in Colonial Beach, VA, they have the BEST berries and jams.  They make weekly trips up to several of the Northern Virginia Farmer's Market.

2. http://number1sons.com/ Kimchi, Kraut, Pickles...need I say more.

3. http://www.twinspringsfruitfarm.com/ Farmed in PA and directly sold in the greater Washington area for over 30 years.  Choose anything from apples, peaches, to homemade tomato soups.

4. http://smithmeadows.com/ Located in Berryville, VA, sold directly to the DC area.  Check out their website as they explain the benefits of grass-fed meats and organic eggs.  Wait until you check out the bacon, drool!

I hope this post was a helpful navigation tool for NOVA locals who are interested in Farmer's Markets.  It doesn't hurt to support local farmers and business either. Before my Open House this Sunday, you know where you can find me.

Enjoy the Summer,

Ian McVeigh

Here is South Carolina we have FANTASTIC farmer's markets. Just within a short drive of my home I have at least 5 or 6 on any given week. LOVE fresh fruits and veggies!

Great post, it is awesome that some people are starting to get that food should be local again and support the farmers that grow it. Have a great weekend!

Have not been to a farmer's market in a long while now. We have two neighbors who grow stuff all the time and another few people that always bring us some other fresh grown produce as well. Ah living in the country...
