Don’t Clean That With Vinegar!
People love vinegar as a cleaner. Often people recommend it over many chemical cleaners out there. People around the world use it as a glass cleaner and some people even do laundry with it. Many pet owners will use it to clean carpets. One of our team members had a neighbor that would blast away his weeds in the yard using vinegar. The power of vinegar seems unlimited!
There are 6 things you should NEVER use vinegar on!
Granite & Marble Countertops – Acid in the vinegar can actually ruin natural stone. Instead of vinegar use a mild liquid dish detergent and warm water instead.
Stone Floor Tiles – Just like the countertops the acid in the vinegar. With any natural stone you should be careful to not use anything with acid or ammonia and instead use special stone soap or a mild detergent.
Egg Stain – When the teen strike and egg your car or if you drop an egg on the ground do not reach for the vinegar. If you spray egg with vinegar the egg actually starts to coagulate which makes it harder to remove
Iron – Iron’s come with specific manufacture instructions on how to keep them. Vinegar can actually ruin the internal parts of an iron.
Stubborn Stains – stains such as blood, ink or grass won’t come out with vinegar. These types of stains do not respond well to acid. Instead you will want something with enzymes.
Hardwood Floors – There have been many people who will argue with us on this one. Few homeowners have gotten away with using vinegar on the hardwood floors and they look beautiful. Many homeowners find themselves with a damaged floor. Depending on the type of wood and sealant it may be a bad idea to even try putting vinegar on it. We recommend using a cleaner specifically formulated for hardwood. Now if you want to try vinegar just make sure you try in an inconspicuous spot before you try on the whole room.
