July 1st will mark 10 years since the day I became a father. When I held little Abby for the first time she immediately had me wrapped around her little finger, and she knew it. The next 8 and a half years were filled with joy, laughter, and mostly pride. Between her and her little sister, Ella, I had everything a father could ever ask for. So next Wednesday will be Abby's second birthday since she lost her battle with Leukemia. Ever since her passing I've made it my mission to a) honor her memory by mimicking her kindness and b) raise awareness and funds so eventually no parent will know the pain that my wife and I know due to cancer. On her upcoming birthday we'll be focusing on "a"- kindness. If you've read my prior blog posts you know what kind of little girl she was. I've asked all of my nearly 1000 Facebook friends to join me in being like Abby on July 1st. Almost everybody I know practices kindness on a daily basis but I'm asking them for one day to turn it up a notch. I created a public Facebook event yesterday and already almost 200 people have said they'll join in. Some will make plans to do something extra that day while others, like me, will wait for an opportunity to present itself and go from there. Opportunities to extend kindness to others present themselves constantly :)
