Recently one of the agents in my office 'almost' got into some trouble.  She was driving buyers to listings in a community.  She noticed another agent was looking at the same homes with other buyers because they kept running into each-other.  Well, on the last home she was in the agent was walking up the sidewalk while she was walking out.  The other agent said, "Don't worry about it.  I will lock up."  The agent from my office said, "Sorry, I really cannot do that.  I have to lock it up myself."  Something happened and it became an issue a couple of days later.  The second agent didn't have an appointment nor did she sign in.  The seller was at the neighbors and was questioning which agent had the appointment.  It goes to show that you need to practice good behaviour even if it doesn't make you popular with other agents.  You never know who is watching!

Good reminder Melody. I do lots of things that other agents do not always like, because my clients request it or simply because it's the right thing to do.

Mel,

How is it going?  Good reminder for all agents, sometimes we feel the need to give a helping hand to our fellow agents, but its important to follow the rules for everyones safety.

Had to come back and tell you. I got a call from the owner of one of my listings that told me when she got to the house that the back door was wide open. The last Realtor to show the place that day, didn't even close the door much less lock it.

That is so inconsiderate.  I hope you brought it up to the Realtor.  She may not realize what a 'sin' it is.

Melody, we have the magic lockboxes that log in your arrival and if you just turn over the key to the next agent, they miss having to log in.  We're pretty careful about putting the key back.  It's good that your colleague was!

Melody,

I never thougt of this before. Thank you so much for reminding me.  Patricia, you are right about the log-in but again I forgot. We really are thinking only of helping the next realtor. This could really get us in trouble.

Good story!  Don't let other agents push you around, just so they'll "like" you.  Do what you know is right.
