Secret Summer Hot Spot in Hernando Beach, Florida
Hernando Beach locals know where to go and have fun when summer heats up in this waterfront community!
Their secret summer hot spot may not be that secret among Hernando Beach residents but outsiders who are unfamiliar with the area, often looking for "the beach", find out soon that the area's name is a misnnomer. Yes, that's right, no beach in Hernando Beach. Of course, just a few miles away, there is Pine Island beach which is a great place to enjoy a day.
But Hernando Beach residents are not too disturbed by the lack of a beach in the traditional sense because arguably we have the biggest swimming pool in the world right in our own back yards!
Hernando Beach residents simply get on their boats or at least get a ride on someone else's boat to participate in the "beach" fun in Hernando Beach that is taking place in "the flats" of the Gulf of Mexico!
Just off shore, there are several barrier islands and strips of rocks that offer a protected area for summer fun. It is here where people gather with their boats, often rafting them together for a big summer party on the water.
The Gulf of Mexico is shallow and the water is warm. And yes, this is Hernando Beaches summer hot spot for swimming, playing, and having some water fun!
