Knowing When To Buy Or Sell Real Estate

By
Real Estate Agent with Classic Realty Realtor

The media at the present time is engaged in keeping the public informed about the housing market. This is good and somewhat helpful. One thing to keep in mind is often the statistics you are hearing and reading about are combined numbers for the entire nation rather than how we are doing locally. When you factor in some states, the national averages go way down. When you take the same states out of the averages, the numbers for our region become considerably stronger.

So, how can I know if the time is now for me to Buy, Sell or Both? Well, for sure it is a decision that for the most part has to be made by you. Having said that, to make that decision, you will need information. You must be an informed buyer/seller. I would urge you to gather your facts from a variety of sources. Read the news, follow interest rates, note the buyers market we are in, talk with an informed Realtor® and most important - Study, study, study. Oh, and one more thing, remember that Real Estate for the most part is local.

Here is a place to go to help you do your homework on how the market is performing in your area. Study: State of Nation's Home Values - Get a complete look at the real estate values of existing homes and condos for the past quarter as the National Association of Realtors releases their data. How did your home fare?

The above link was updated the end of February, 2008 and will provide one more avenue for you to consider when making the decision, "is the time now or later to jump into the market?"
