Juneau in July
My husband and I were married in Juneau on the 4th of July in 2002. Therefore, when we can get away, an anniversary celebration at the 'scene of the crime,' seems appropriate. My oldest son lives there too, so we get some great family time and often enjoys a few adventures. Low clouds on our wedding day kept us from getting married on top of the Mendenhall Glacier, but we did get married on Sean's boat in the middle of the Gastineau channel. Note our fancy wedding attire. Ha! The next day, the weather improved and we got our helicopter ride to the cool blue ice. We finally toasted our big day with glacier water. What a wonderful and memorable day, and well worth the wait. ( We are in the yellow ice helmets.)
A crab feast is a must! What a great way to top off a glacier adventure.
Juneau is my hometown and it will always have a special place in my heart. Since my son and his family live there, it's even more enjoyable ( and necessary) to visit as often as possible. If you ever get a chance to visit Alaska, make sure to include Southeast Alaska in your plans. In my book, Juneau in July is tough to beat.
