Home for the Summer, several of them.
My friend Debbie Laity asked me to write about my home for the summer and what I like about it.
This got me to wondering which home I should write about, Forestry Camp, The Office at our Cadott Tree Farm, or my main home and office in Stevens Point.
Forestry camp is a great place to be with plenty of activity and nature coming out of your pores, though the internet is generally lacking and electricity is often a challenge as well.
Most of our electricity comes from solar panels and vehicle inverters, and the internet is generally from our cell phone hotspots, which have been lacking ever since ATT took over our phone company last fall.
The Cadott office is also nice with plenty of nature everywhere you look and the big picture window by my desk looks out into a wall of green this time of year with deer, bears and other wild friends passing by.
But eventually nature gets to be a little much, especially this time of year when you need to wear layers of clothes to slow down the mosquitos.
So I am happy that I am leaving Nick and Jesse to run the Cadott office for the next few months while I work in Point.
Stevens Point not only does not have the healthy population of blood sucking bugs that the other work places have but it has a lot of amenities that I have grown to love.
Some of these are things that are fairly new like the little gathering place that I volunteer at called Franciscans Downtown. And others have been around since I first came here to go to UWSP well over 30 years ago.
I like the many parks around town that you can easily bike to along our slow moving streets and our Green Circle Trail.
Biking around Point has been a favorite pastime that I have loved when time permitted ever since I was a student so many years ago and I wish that I had time to do more of it.
This post is already getting a long winded so I will conclude shortly, but before I do, I will leave you with a few posts that show off some of the things that I love about this town.
- Stevens Point Parks
- Franciscans Downtown
- Green Circle Trail
- Stevens Point Churches
- University of Wisconsin Stevens Point
- Schmeekle Reserve
- Belts Ice Cream
- Biking
- The Dog Park
- And numerous events including...

and so much more, you should really come for a visit, you may not want to leave.
