The beauty of summer

Good morning everyone-My garden is a lot of work but there are many rewards and these pretty blooms are what make the work worthwhile. I have 4 of this color hibiscus. They are shorter than the others and the branches die back on them and you cut them and the new shoots come up thru the dead wood. I was going to transplant these but they got too big before I could. It is a bit crowded where they are.  The first yr I had them I thought there were dead. Glad I didn't dig them up.

These are one group of Rose of Sharon bushes and they have really grown. They have made a living fence. Last yr they got so heavy they toppled over and I had to string them up to the chain link fence they are planted in front of.  Hopefully this yr I won't have to.  There is a butterfly bush on either side of them.  The walkway is pretty hidden now but I have happy bees and butterflies and hummers

.

The one thing I have learned is gardening is a lot of work but it is also full of surprises. Things grow bigger than you think and then somethings die unexpectedly which is disappointing but overall there is a lot of beauty and that makes up for the disappointments along the way.

Nicole-That is what I am planning on doing more of in the evenings is sitting back and enjoying the scenery.  I love those hibiscus because of the color and the size plus they bloom from just about now thru frost.

Gorgeous colors Sharon! I do love Hibiscus and butterfly bushes. They keep the bees and hummingbirds busy flitting form one to the other. It is a lot of hard work but oh-so work every minute and the sore muscles sometimes that go with it. Well done!

Wanda-Lots of winged activity for sure.  I do enjoy the fruits of my labor

Bill-Thank you. I don't think I have a green thumb just a passion for it

Beautiful!  These are very hardy plants and they will tolerate extreme conditions quite well.  They always bloom throughout the year here in Hawaii.

Hi, Sharon...today was certainly a very springlike day for us on this first day of spring. Lucky and I were out for several hours enjoying the sun and warm temps. We got close to 70 degrees.

Lucky hurt himself playing with another dog at the park. He appears to be ok, now, but he's on light exercise for the next few days.

It's funny I should read this post today. I'm reading to start playing in the dirt again. It's a bit early for me, though, to have these thoughts. I guess you could say I was hit with a bout of spring fever this morning.
