John D. Rockefeller selected Ormond Beach as his winter home back in 1918 when he purchased The Casements, his famous winter home.  "The Casements", is now on the National Register of Historic Places.  Rockefeller is said to have been the richest man on the planet when he bought The Casements, in Ormond Beach back in 1918. The structure was named after the casement windows that faced the Halifax River (Intracoastal Waterway).  During the Rockefeller days, famous visitors to the Rockefeller home included Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Will Rogers.  The Casements now serves as a cultural center for Ormond Beach with creative experiences for all ages, including classes, exhibits, special events, a gift shop and a variety of meeting spaces.  Over the years, there were many famous visitors to the Rockefeller home, they included Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Will Rogers.

Outdoor Activities | Enjoying outdoor activities is part of life here in Ormond Beach .  Home to many parks including Tomoka State Park.  The Halifax River flows through the center of Ormond Beach and the Atlantic Ocean borders the city on the east coast.  The Tomoka River is a north flowing river and is the longest river in Volusia County which runs through Ormond Beach.
