The Fourth of July is one of the best holidays of the year! Celebrations with family & friends, an easy, traditional menu of BBQ, hotdogs & burgers with great sides, free music, parades & fabulous fireworks, etc.. What's not to love? Following is how five South Florida cities plan on celebrating our nation's birthday:
Sunrise: Sunrise starts the party early with the Spirit of America Parade & Family Fun Day at 10:00am-1:00pm at its City Park on Sunset Strip. Partiers will enjoy parade floats, free food, rides & children's entertainment. From 5:00pm-10:00pm, at the BB&T Center there will be children's rides, food & beverage vendors, an auction which will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, free music and fireworks at 9:00pm;
Pembroke Pines: The Pembroke Pines, Fl. Recreation Center at 7400 Pines Boulevard will be the site for the city's festivities from 6:00pm-9:00pm; expect free rides for children, a food truck roundup & live music, capped by a fireworks extravaganza at 9:00pm. Free admission & parking for all, but no coolers, pets nor personal fireworks are allowed.
Hollywood: Entertainment starts at 2:00pm at the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk; music will be provided by DJ Tony Mixx from 2:00-4:00pm and from 5:00-7:00pm beachside at Connecticut St; at 4:00pm, enjoy live music by Beach Party and at 7:30pm, by Private Stock; and at Fillmore St., latin music by Cachi Velez & Friends will be played from 4:00-7:00pm. The party ends with a fantastic offshore fireworks display at 9:00pm.
Davie: Bring the kids for "Fun at the Pool" at the Pine Island Pool from 10:00am through 4:00pm. At 11:00am, enjoy 'Fun Foam Spray' with the Davie Fire Department; at 1:00pm, it's the "Dive In Treasure Hunt" Contest and at 3:00pm, try your luck with the watermelon eating contest; from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, the party moves to Bamford Sport Center for arts & crafts, face painting, train rides, food trucks & craft vendors; at 7:00pm, enjoy live rock 'n roll music by Relyx and, at 9:00pm, an amazing fireworks display.
Tamarac: City residents and their guests are invited to the Tamarac Sports Complex at 9901 NW 77 St., Tamarac, Fl. from 6:00pm-9:00pm for a free outdoor concert by the group "Soundworthy"; there will be plenty of entertainment for children, including free rides, games, arts and crafts; food trucks will be available; the night will cap off with s spectacular fireworks display at 9:00pm. Since parking is limited, the city will provide a shuttle service from Tamarac City Hall (7525 NW 88 Ave.) and from the Tamarac Community Center (8601 W. Commercial Blvd.).
