Hilton Head July 4, 2015 Fireworks Locations

Hilton Head July 4, 2015 Fireworks

It's here again - another excuse to crane our necks up into the sky and cover our ears to celebrate our nation's birthday! Here's a rundown on where you can go for the evening:

HARBOURTOWN in Sea Pines Resort: Located on the south end of the island, the best way to get there so that you aren't overwhelmed by the traffic - and by the way the guards at the gate will enforce this anyway - is to go through the gate, not sure at this writing whether the normal $6 entry fee is waived for the festivities, then proceed to the lot then take one of the Sea Pines Trolleys or a bus down to Harbourtown. Fireworks start around 9:15P.

HINTS: If you come early, the restaurants will be very crowded later, you might get a seat at a table, otherwise, you can bring a picnic and sit under the shade of the Liberty Oak. Need to bring a chair to really enjoy the view. Stick around after the Harbourtown fireworks to avoid the parking mess and you'll then be able to see the fireworks in the distance from Sun City, the Town of Port Royal, and maybe even Beaufort!

SHELTER COVE in Palmetto Dunes Resort: technically located across the street from the ocean side of Palmetto Dunes, the Shelter Cove area is greatly expanded this year since not only can you sit over by the Neptune statue in the heart of Shelter Cove  and see the fireworks burst over the marina, but you can also now head over by the new Kroger anchored Town Centre and watch them over Broad Creek. Loads of new restaurants will entice you.

HINT: also bring chairs since though there are benches in the new park, it's always better to be prepared. Parking may be allowed in the shopping center; otherwise, finding spaces around the Belk store may be scarce. Spaces may also be available in the other shopping center right next door as well. If you're staying at the Marriott Resort or the Hilton, they normally shuttle people over so no parking worries.

SKULL CREEK - at the north end of the island off of Squire Pope/Gumtree Road. The best is to head to Hudson's Seafood Restaurant on the Docks EARLY. You will have a birdseye seat since the fireworks are set off from a barge on the Intracoastal Waterway.

HINT: this is a popular area and NOT much parking. Hilton Head Plantation will not allow you to go through the gates, the parking lot by the Chart House and the Boathouse also fills up very early-best advice; if you're not planning to get there by 6, need to have another plan.

Up the Creek Pub on Broad Creek also has a birds eye view of not only Skull Creek fireworks but also in the distance Shelter Cove. VERY small parking lot, very cute pub - again come early!!!

BLUFFTON IDEA - the Town of Bluffton does not do fireworks but Sun City Hilton Head does a bang-up job. You can't get through the gates - unless you have a friend of family member and they will call you in a pass; however, you can most likely see the fireworks from the Food Lion parking lot, or the parking lots over by the fire station, or enjoy a dinner at the Okatie Ale House while waiting for the fireworks.

WATCHING ON THE WATER: If you want to do something special, the Savannah River Cruise folks also have an option with a dinner cruise and cash bar. Head over to their boarding area at 8PM for a 9:00P departure. Click here for more information!

WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS: and you realize that it really is going to be firecracker hot on Saturday, July 4, 2015 evening (probably in the 80's with high humidity) watch the Capitol Fourth on TV and eat the cheesecake decorated with blueberries and raspberries. Can you tell that I've done exactly that many times too????

HAPPY JULY 4TH!

If our area sounds like too much fun and you'd like to live here be sure to call!
