FORMING STORMING NORMING PERFORMING

It's called TEAMWORK! Just how is a team formed? What are the dynamics? How do they sustain, and what is expected? It is more than a word to be sure. If one person can make a difference, then a team is able to literally move mountains and go to the moon as we well know. Let's explore TEAM power!

 COMING TOGETHER

Forming.....someone has come up with an idea. They want to carry it out and they want a team to do it. The idea is birthed, explored, dissected, lay-ed out, imagined and the thought process of picking a team begins carefully and deliberately. We start to interview and then assemble bodies.

 WHO'S WHO?

Storming....this new group of people have come together. They do not know each other intimately or otherwise. But if they are to succeed, they must. Secret opinions and judgments are being created which take energy from the team. Those secrets have to be outed. The team is not cohesive until it is. It requires that everyone thoroughly clean out their inner closet and share what they are thinking real or perceived.

GET IT ALL OUT

Because if you don't, we are all going to fail later. A safe environment is created where anything can be said. Once we have all gotten out our garbage AND WE ALL AGREE that we did, only then may we may begin to even consider the next phase. ACCOUNTABILITY...which is the ability to give an accounting followed by RESPONSIBILITY which is the ability to respond are established.

IMPORTANT NOTE:..This is where most teams fail and bog down. They do not make it past the storming stage. They can disband or dig deeper or become phony and ineffective by keeping their potential valuable contributions to themselves by not sharing, or by judging or by acting out in a dysfunctional way. The GLUE that is required to bond them is missing. Hit or miss takes place. Not running at premium or optimum. First real good storm will expose all the hidden nonsense and then the team is all through. This is where we either build on DUST or ROCK.

 STEADY AS SHE GOES

Norming...you have successfully navigated through the storming stage and you have a ready, willing, and able group eager to be programmed for their mission. Each one wants to display their talents and skills and they still have to find their harmony. THINK: we all play an instrument, but now we have to play as a symphony with a conductor. If we made it this far, SO FAR SO GOOD.

LET'S SEE WHAT WE CAN DO

Performing...We have done away with distraction, petty disagreements, have agreed to our focus, how to get there, what is required and who does what and when. We are ready to enter the assignment and eager to get our first reading or result. Se will move like we have a purpose and we will self-refine ourselves as we go. We experiment, we fail, but we learn and train becoming stronger and less wronger as we go.

 RESULTS DON'T LIE

All of the most successful corporations and teams have traveled this way under the above dynamics. No exceptions. The ones that made it did the work. They fly a NO EXCUSES BANNER and salute it when they come in. The ones that didn't testify to faulty STORMING procedures.

WORTH NOTING...Once a successful team fails, they know the problem must lie elsewhere..

I do take in to great consideration how an agent will fit my team when I'm interviewing them to come under my brokerage. I don't have a traditional office where agents come and gather, however, I do want them all to be able to share knowledge and resources together.

Richie Alan Naggar author of books on Life-Love-Intimacy-Purpose - I can just say 'WOW' - and very nice rhyming to make it easy to remember when one is ready to form a team!

Creating a team requires a vision, common vision for all team members. And the team leader has to keep in mind that all the players play their role efficiently.

One-man team can't win the championships!

Fear of sharing trade secrets. They will be shared when they don't work anymore and then there is a fee charged to hear them. When someone says they don't want to give up their trade secrets, the team is not going to fly.

Joan Whitebook your comment proves that teamwork is for you!

Praful Thakkar the things that must come out during "storming" and then recovery make all the difference in the world when you need that difference

Pamela Seley, REALTOR® well said & spoken. Yes to your comment. Playing hide & seek when on a team is a countdown to a failure at some point

Debbie Gartner ...more than the grains of sand on a small beach is the STORMING drop-out rate, failure and crash. It respects no one eating as it goes
