Things to Do Along the Columbia River Gorge

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

I hate to see dogs tied up. I realize sometimes you can't help it, though, especially if your dog is with you when you decide to stop at a restaurant to eat. It's certainly better to tie up your dog and leave a bowl of water for your pet than to lock the poor thing in a car like some morons manage.

Strolling along the Columbia River yesterday, we captured a few Ingress portals and then stopped at Clark and Lewie's for lunch. There, on the ramp were two beautiful dogs that seemed oh-so-happy to see us. It wasn't hard once we got inside to figure out who the dog's owners were because they sat directly behind us, and the dogs could see them through the glass, so they started to cry. Really sad, pitiful, mournful cries. Enough so that the owners of the restaurant let them bring the dogs inside.

You can read more in my personal blog today and see photos of our 4th of July vacation into Washington at this link: The 4th of July at the Columbia River Gorge.

I would have found an outdoor restaurant so my pups could sit on the patio with me while I dined. Poor babies.

Good morning Elizabeth.  Those photos just makes me want to go today and see those sights in person.  What a lovely sight...

Elizabeth, dogs are so social, they don't like ot be by themselves, and glad the owner let the dogs come in.

Too bad you didn't have an enjoyable Fourth of July while on vacation.  That's a real bummer.

Pat Starnes There aren't a lot of dining options in Stevenson, Washington.

James Dray Glad you enjoyed the pictures. These were amazing sights to see. Every time the kiteboarders jumped into the air and let the wind carry them, my heart leaped. Not that I'd want to do it.

Joan Cox We played with the dogs when we arrived at the restaurant and at first thought they were crying because they could see us through the window, but it was really their owners they spotted.

Chris Ann Cleland I would not say I did not enjoy the 4th; I was just complaining that we couldn't go fishing.

Well let me amend that comment.  Sorry you didn't get to go fishing on the Columbia River.

Back in the day - and I won't mention which day because it would date me.  I can remember having to cross the Columbia River on a ferry from Oregon on into Washington.  I was a kid then.  I was on my way to visit my uncle in Spokane!  There are mesmerizing scenes in Oregon and Washington.
