As sure as the spring will follow the winter,
prosperity and economic growth will follow recession.
-Bo Bennett

The quote is meant to inspire and reassure those who have been so troubled and impacted by all the negative economic news that indeed the renewal and rebirth will arrive as surely as spring arrives.

As many regions begin to thaw from the icy cold of winter, as the rivers begin to swell with the melting snows, and as the migrating birds return north, spring has been making its annual show. Here are a few photos of spring's arrival in the south. I hope these photos, that I took around my home just a few hours ago, will reinforce spring's promise to those of you who are still frozen by winter's embrace.

Rebecca - I read on Eric Kodner's blog there was a bit of snow in Wisconsin this past weekend and some winter advisories. he also wrote another blog about the storm's effects! They will arrive soon, I promise! Winter must seem very long in Wisconsin!

Hi Rich, that is some great spring photos. I hope we by-pass last years late freeze.

Keith & Robin - Thanks for the compliment! I too hope we don't get a late freeze!

Rich, thank you for mentioning my blog!

The upper midwest is suddenly experiencing Spring at last.  It was around 70 in Minneapolis today and windy.  Temperatures are up in northern Wisconsin too, and all that white stuff that fell in the last two weeks is melting pretty rapidly.

Joan - Glad to help in making people's day a little brighter!

Eric - No problem Eric! I am glad spring is arriving there and the snow is melting! I have been to Alpine Valley in the spring and there are few places that can rival that idyllic setting!

Oh, Rich!  I love your garden photos!  You must have a beautiful yard!!  Is that last picture saucer magnolia?  Thanks for sharing with us!

Kim - Glad you enjoyed the photos! I really love to garden and have made a garden of one sort or another everywhere I have lived since childhood! I am familiar with the last one being called a tulip magnolia (sorry don't know the scientific name)!

The graphic is "pecan"...how very appropriate!

04/17/2008 08:18 PM by Rich Dansereau Loan Officer Knoxville TN (Home America Mortgage)

Rich: Yes! Pecan! My graphic apparently thinks I'm from Florida--it says grapefruit. Do you have the book "Georgia Gardener's Guide?"  Its by Walter Reeves and Erica Glaesner (sp?).  A must-have for every Georgia gardener!

Kim - <<<smile>>> I'm not familiar with the book. I use Dave's Garden Website (the free version) to get a lot of info on gardening. Surprised it doesn't say "peach" <<<smile>>> BTW, You are one of the hyper-links in a post I wrote yesterday!

Rich: I am deeply flattered that you linked to my blog!  I read your post yesterday, but I didn't get the reference to me...Clueless in Blue Ridge!

Has anyone else mentioned having trouble navigating your site since you put in the new header?  Maybe its just me, but everytime I come to your blog, I wind up having to exit out of AR altogether and log in again.  Its not a problem for me, but I'd hate to have you miss out on readership as a result.

Kim - I haven't heard that about mine blog in particular but I have heard it around the Rain a lot over the past couple of months! The guys at AR are supposed to be looking into the issues of people getting trapped in blogs but I have not seen anything on a fix yet. This apparently only happens with people using Internet Explorer Browser (which is all I used to use)! I ended up downloading Firefox (for free) and have not had the problem. I still use Explorer for work compatibility. Thanks for the heads up!

Very nice pictures and colors....I could show you mine..but I killed everything...LOL

04/20/2008 06:38 AM by BLRGUY(Beach & Luxury Realty Inc)

BLR Guy - These plants are mostly native to this area so the maintenance is minimal; even with the horrible drought we have been having, these beautiful plants take very little care and seem to be thriving! When the rains come to Florida in June everything will grow crazy on its own! It was always the dry season that had me worried about my plants when I live in Florida! I lost many a plant to the alternately dry then wet seasons in Florida so I eventually went mostly native and had much better luck!

Picture of my side garden during the early stages in Florida!
