Can you accept not trying?

Growing up I was a huge fan of Michael Jordan.  I always loved watching him play basketball.  I would say that he was one of my HERO's growing up.  I remember when his Dad was killed and he retired from basketball and wanted to pursue a baseball career.  I thought it was amazing that he just went for it regardless if he thought he was going to be good or not.

I can accept failure, everyone fails at something.

But I can't accept not trying.

By Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan tried to play baseball.  He wasn't that good but at least he put himself out there and went for it.  How many times are we afraid to just go for it and accept failure if it comes?  I know that I have been fearful of putting myself out there.  That is ok as long as we can accept the fact that we never tried.

I always hear people saying "if only I would of..."  I don't want to be that way.  I want to say at least I tried and so what if I failed?  At least I tried to accomplish what I set out to do.  Once you can accept failure as part of life it makes it easier to put yourself out there and just go for it.

Can you accept failure or would you rather accept never trying?

I think Winston Churchill said something like this....You've only failed once you've given up on trying or something like that. Don't quote me on that. I think it is a great quote. Never Give Up! and never regret not trying something.

Bronson - more deep thoughts from you.  I love it!  You mentioned one of my mottos - "gotta try it."  With that motto I have started a business (it failed, but I learned a lot), relocated to a new country (Canada to US), changed careers (IT to real estate), and had kids before it was "the right time" (uhhh... when is that?!).  I don't regret any of those decisions!

Thanks for the wonderful words!

Bronson, great post. One of my favorites is "every strike out brings me closer to my next home run" Babe Ruth.
