Can Something be Done in Plaza Resort & Spa?

Of course, something can always be done. But this is not the right question. The right question is "Will it be done?"

No...

It is really very simple. Last meeting of the Board was over the phone. You could tune in and listen and participate no matter where you were at that time.

There are 323 units in Plaza Resort & Spa. 100 in the hands of the Bank (their Asset Management Company Redus), 223 in private hands. The issue at stake was the increase of the Association Dues to $711 from $555.29 starting from July 1.

Put everyone on their toes.

So, how many people participated in the meeting? 

25. That’s why I say “no”.

I was contacted by a few people prior to the meeting. They gave me the code. So I listened. However, none of these concerned owners participated. Hey, how can you change anything when even concerned people do not participate?

Why participate?

1. To understand what is going on.Ask questions and get the answers.

2. Form the opinion based on knowledge.

3. Make your opinion known

I ask owners questions and nobody can answer even simple questions. But when all the knowledge is fed only by gossip, it is not going to take you anywhere.

This is true even when there is nothing done wrong. The fact that the Association Dues go up may not mean that there is something illegal.

But when only 25 people would even dial to join the meeting and one of them was me, and one, I assume, was the owner liaison Helen Braswell, and there could have been someone else, who are not owners, then you get the answer why people do not have the answers.

If you do not ask, you do not get the answer. But in order to ask, you need to know the issues, and how could you know if you do not listen?

One of the crazy things happening is that owners are looking for … an attorney. For what? For someone to sort out and get you the answers for questions that you should have before you start thinking about the attorney?

This is crazy. People should go to the attorney when they know everything they know, and when they are confident that this is against the law.

Here in Plaza too many owners do not know much. At the meeting the Board adopted the budget, and there was not a single question about some of the lines on the spreadsheet. And it is not something you can easily understand. I couldn't.

I guess owners should start with basics. Get the answers to the right questions.

I wouldn’t be surprised if after that they would not need an attorney.

Right now bad blood is all over. Good blood comes with knowledge.

And knowledge is missing.
