Most would use kerosene. Some other fuels have been used. Such as alcohol and even gas.

What are blow torches? I better go google this one! How long did it take to figure out?
I'm guessing they're blow torches although I wouldn't dare to get close to anything with the words antique and fire in the description.

Cheryl Ritchie Blow torches are small machines used to weld metal among other things. Now they use them in the kitchen to caramelize sugar etc.
