That Was Some Rain...Torrential Rainstorm Hits Cedaredge
It was a typical Friday on Main Street in Cedaredge. There wasn't too much happening. A few people stopped by the office to say hello. Just when you thought things couldn't get more exciting, it started to rain. Now you may not think rain is that exciting, but this storm was a good one. This wasn't just any rain. It was a hard, pounding rain that went on for about 20 minutes.
I started to go out the backdoor to my car to get my camera. I opened the door and the water poured in. The back of the office was flooding. The water was rushing like a river down the alley. It was a pretty amazing sight. The thunder and lightning also added to the excitement. One big lightning hit and the power went out for a minute. We were lucky. I heard down in Eckert, the power was off for a couple of hours.
I got wet almost up to my knees going to my car to get my camera. I missed the hardest part of the rain, but this video will give you an idea of how it was.
After the rain stopped I thought I had better check on things at my house. Half of my wood chip driveway washed away. There's damage to the lawn in two large places in the front, and I had three inches of water in the basement. I'm not worried. I already got a guy over there with a sump pump to drain the basement so that's done. The grass in the yard will grow back. I'll get the driveway repaired soon. I'm thankful the garden wasn't damaged.
What an interesting Friday afternoon. It looks like it might rain again.
