Homeowners take notice! You may think you know where to put your money for a great ROI (Return on Investment)… kitchens, bathrooms, and masters. Right? NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) released a report called What Home Buyers Really Want that may surprise you. Two panels were surveyed – Home buyers who had recently purchased a home (in the previous 3 years) and Individuals expecting to purchase a home (in the next 3 years).
To begin with, we were surprised at a few things home buyers DIDN’T want. Here are a few features from that list:
- Elevator
- Gated Community
- Laundry Chute
- Game Room
- Wet Bar
So what features DO home buyers really want? A walk-in pantry may not surprise you, but would ceiling fans? Ceiling fans are a great feature, but we were surprised to find them among the MOST WANTED. 85% or more of home buyers rated these 11 features as their most wanted:
- Energy-Star Appliances
- Laundry Room
- Energy-Star Rating for Whole Home
- Exterior Lighting
- Bathroom Linen Closet
- Energy-Star Rated Windows
- Ceiling Fan
- Garage Storage
- Table Space for Eating in Kitchen
- Walk-in Kitchen Pantry
