Reno parks ranked Top 10 overall by WalletHub. We also made high marks in other areas on their 2015 Best Cities for Recreation list. Anyone who lives in our Reno community is not surprised. We've known how great our recreational opportunities are for years now!
Reno Parks Ranked Top 10 Overall
We are currently in the middle of National Park Month. In honor of that, WalletHub decided to compare 100 of the largest metro areas in the United States against one another. Parks were just one portion of the equation. Recreation means much more than just outdoor activities. For WalletHub's purposes, they also included the types and amount of museums available in the area. For some people, they enjoy going to live concerts as their form of recreation. Others like food festivals. In this case, a comparison of parks and recreation opportunities in each metro area really means parks and various forms of entertainment. That is how Reno parks ranked Top 10 overall.
The key stats that WalletHub focused on were the basic costs of recreation, entertainment available, the general climate of the area and quality of parks. Overall, Reno parks ranked Top 10. We came in right behind St Louis and just ahead of Denver. Reno was 10th in the cost category. We also ranked second for fitness club fees. Our bike rental facilities put us at 23rd place. Our amount of musical venues placed us at 25th on the Top 100 list. Probably the most surprising of all was that Reno came in at 84th for the quality of its parks.
What do you like to do for recreation in Reno? Where are your favorite places to go? Do you agree with WalletHub? Reno parks ranked Top 10 overall but obviously have some areas that need improvement. Please let me know what you think in the comments below.
