"You mean there's a fee?" Yes there is, but it's a minimal fee for what you'll get, and it is only to help defray the cost of implementing and supporting the application for all the ActiveRain members here.

If you would like to get a jump on the "New Wave" of Real Estate Video 2.0 and give Mixpo a run, you can set it up NOW!. For $29/month, or $290/year (that's two months free) we can get you access directly to Mixpo. Since their isn't currently a way to directly purchase the product, you will need to use the ActiveRain Paypal. You can transfer the money to ActiveRain's Paypal account by going to Paypal.com. Use the email address billing@activerain.com. Once you make the transfer, send me or Bob Stewart an email with a copy of your receipt, and we will get you activated right away. (within 24 hours) EDIT: NEW UPDATE: AR Video is now fully integrated into ActiveRain. To sign up, jsut click here. If you're an existing user, you will still need to go through this process just one time. Edited 8/20/2008

As we go through the integration (speculating about 4-6 weeks), anything that you produce on the 'Mixpo' console will eventually show up on your video.activerain.com account once the integration is complete. Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions or concerns. I have been testing and working with Mixpo since my first day here at ActiveRain, and I am happy we are ready to finally roll it out to members. Here are just some of the Features and Benefits I have noted using the Mixpo tools, editing and on-line production console:

Really enjoyed our chat the other day, thanks!!  :-)

Brad, can you clarify something that is not 100% clear?  Is the fee only during the introductory stage for the early adopters or will the cost still be the same once Mixpo is integrated with Active Rain?

04/17/2008 04:55 PM by Brian Block -- Northern Virginia & D.C. Real Estate (RE/MAX Allegiance)

Brad- Can we use other video editing tools if we are going to use video within Active Rain?

Best,

Scott

04/17/2008 05:20 PM by Scott Cowan -Tacoma & Pierce County Area (Terry Wise & Associates)

Brian - it will remain 29.00 even after the integration period.  The nice thing is that you can do a month to month if you like, or save a couple bucks if you sign up for it annually.  Not trying sell it here, just providing it to those who are interested.  We have quite a few on there already.  Let me know if you have any other questions of need any assistance.  Thanks Brian.  :-)

04/17/2008 05:23 PM by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Builder (ActiveRain)

Scott - absolutely!  You can also embed from pretty much all the video sources out there, mixpo is unique in that it will allow members easy online editing, production and posting capabilities.  It will also be integrated to your Blog Posting page on AR.  (soon)  You can use any Video editing software you like, many members don't have access to those applications, or have the time to learn them, they just want quick and easy, but yet quality and professional.

I have been wondering how to get Mixpo.  I have been reading about people trying Mixpo and been wondering when/if it would be available to everyone.  Seems like it will be pretty easy to use.  I think this will be a good thing for the blog as well as website.

Brad, thanks for all your help tonight with MIXPO, I'll post my first shot at it tomorrow. You are such an excellent teacher, I appreciate all the time you took. I played around with it for 2 hours, after we hung up. I'm sure I'll get better with practice, both with my interviewing and with Mixpo.

What an amazing program ! I can't believe all the things you can do with it.

Thanks again !

Wow Brad, sounds like AR is on the move to not only be the best social network but we are preparing to do some serious dazzling for the consumers. I was going to buy the Flip, then hesitated because it really allows no real quality control. I am still up in the air on which way I want to go on this. If shooting in lower light as many homes would be, I am confused if the MIXPO editing can or does add the light source much like PhotoShop does for stills.

I have been wondering how to get Mixpo.  I have been reading about people trying Mixpo and been wondering when/if it would be available to everyone.  Seems like it will be pretty easy to use.  I think this will be a good thing for the blog as well as website.

Kimberly - just click on the link (paypal) in this post, then send Bob or myself your receipt.  This is how we are getting all the other members setup.  It's really easy, really inexpensive, and really really powerful.  It's a great tool for your profile here, your Blog posts, your websites and pretty soon you'll be able to upload to video hosting services.  (coming soon.....)  I got to admit it's getting better, it's getting better all the time!   :-)

04/17/2008 11:18 PM by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Builder (ActiveRain)

Steve - I really appreciate that invitation, but my plate was a little full today helping members get setup on Mixpo and answering a few phone calls and questions.  Also, I had to get this post ready this morning and then out, so I apologize for missing the teleseminar, but maybe I'll catch the next one.  Maybe you'd like to be a guest on one of our upcoming Web/Techinars.  (another project I'll be announcing soon for those who don't see this comment...Big Smile) I'd be happy to discuss my potential guest list and the possibility of having you on it.  "Flip Video Secrets and Mixpo Professional"  sounds like a great online Techinar.  I'll check out your recorded podcast, and we can cahoot later about it....thanks Steve.

The syndication and indexing features look interesting. Are there any specific tips from Mixpo on how we can best optimize our videos for the search engines?

John - syndication and indexing is as simple as putting a check mark in a box. By doing so, your Video is indexed by Google, AOL Video, Yahoo, MSN, and others.  I will be doing some tutorial posts which will include tips like the one's you requested.  I am working closely with our team and Mixpo to make this information readily available and extremely accurate. The edited and final video allows you to create a title, add tag or keywords, put a description, just as you do a blogpost, but one click syndication? Now that's awesome.  Wait till you see all the other features and benefits of Mixpo, not to mention upgrades in the future and AR enhancements for members.  Lif is really good in the rain right now!!   :-)

04/17/2008 11:34 PM by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Builder (ActiveRain)

I am already working on a simple tutorial for Mixpo and for our newest members who have signed up already.  Give me a day or two and I'll have that posted.  Thanks for all your calls today, I know you'll ALL be pleased not only with Mixpo, but with the RESULTS it will hopefully generate for you and your business.  There are only a few of you that I haven't gotten back to yet, I had to step away for dinner, and I'm returning emails and voice mails now. Thank for being so patient!  :-)

Brad - when are you coming to St Pete Florida (or Clearwater, or Tampa, all part of the same Tampa Bay area)? Would love to pick your brain, brainstorm, etc. You're welcome to stay at Casa Simms, with a pool, on the waterfront ....

Sharon - I'd leave in the morning if I could, but I am seeing my Brother this weekend (you know that story) Then in Tennessee on the 5/6 - 5/7.  Maybe we can set something up after that. I'd be happy and willing to come do a "Live" Techinar if you feel we could get enough attendance to justify the time and cost.  Staying at the Casa Simms would already cover most of my expenses, and you know I'd be honored....let's kick this idea around a bit and see what we can put together.  Shoot, I'd come out there just to see you, I hope you know that!   :-)))

this looks very interesting.  I'm going to bookmark it for future reference.

Missy - I can't wait to see what you've put together.  More than that, I can't wait to hear some of the success stories that will come from you and other members about how Video has taken business to new levels and heights!  Heck, look what it did for youtube.com.  Can't wait to see what it's going to do for members of ActiveRain.com

You're right, I have learned that with practice, your videos, your editing, your final productions will only keep getting better.  Just like your Blog.  I remember your first post here, and look at you now!  Just wait till you incorporate that type of learning and growth to your Video's. World better watch out for Missy Caulk!!  Mark my words...

It was really nice talking with you on the phone today, I'm glad Allyssa is doing better,  and I'm looking forward to meeting you when I come to Ann Arbor someday soon.  :-)))

If shooting in lower light as many homes would be, I am confused if the MIXPO editing can or does add the light source much like PhotoShop does for stills.

William - The best of the best SIR!!  :-)  The flip is just that, flip and shoot!  Easy to use, carry, access, and download.  It;s not the Top of the line Camcorder, but it is the #1 selling video camera according to a post I read by another AR employee.  I know that they are also sold out of them in a lot of places across the country.  I guess you could say people are "Flippin Out!" LOL!~ haha!!

Mixpo can do a lot of things but it is not an ADOBE Premier, or Pinnacle Studio etc.  Mixpo does offer one thing no one else has, and that's links embedded in the final videos that can link your viewers anywhere you want them to go. It's also nice that everything is all available online anytime.

If you need help making a decision, I'd be happy to help.  Mixpo and Flip Video may not be the best thing or solution for William, and I'd be happy to help you determine that based on what you want and need to do, and how much time or money you want to invest. just let me know.

Thanks my friend, have a great night...   :-)

Neat stuff, Brad, but wish there was a way to purchase other than PayPal. I refuse to use them because of past issues. And dealing with the account I supposedly have but can never access is a trial. And did I mention the spam I get repeatedly? Hope it works for others. I'm bummed but I'll get over it.

Jeff

04/18/2008 10:00 AM by Jeff Dowler ~ Carlsbad Real Estate (RE/MAX Associates)

Jeff - we can set you up outside of paypal, sorry you had a poor experience in the past with them.  Once we make the transition to videos.activerain.com, you should be able to access by credit card or check to AR.  I'm not positive of that, but I'm sure that's the plan.  The paypal was setup for those who wanted to get a jump start using mixpo and video on their sites and blogs.

After reading all the National News and media about Real Estate Video, there are many members wanting to get on the wagon right away.  If you want us to make a different arrangement for you, no problem, just let me know.

Thanks Jeff, hope to see you again real soon.  :-)

04/18/2008 12:55 PM by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Builder (ActiveRain)

I think I'm going to have to dive into this.  One question...

If we drop the Mixpo service in the future, what happens to the videos?  Can we host them elsewhere so that they are still available?

04/18/2008 02:25 PM by Lane Bailey - REALTOR & Car Guy (Diamond Dwellings Realty)

Lane - that's a great question, not one I had considered realizing that anyone using Mixpo would never stop. LOL!~  Seriously though, I a looking into that and will post the answer back here shortly.  I think the mixpo team may be busy along with some of us AR folks just keeping up with everything that's going on right now.  I'll be back in a bit to confirm and answer for you. Thanks Lane, I can always count on you my friend!  :-))))

04/18/2008 04:15 PM by Alan Robinson (PTE REAL ESTATE GROUP)

How is that better than having your own video editing software? Especially when there's a monthly fee? And will Mixpo have the same extensive capabilities as personal software?

04/18/2008 07:56 PM by Lisa Hill (Daytona Beach Real Estate) (Adams Cameron and Company)

Michael - thanks, I wish I had one of those...Oh, I do.  hahaha!  :-)

04/18/2008 09:39 PM by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Builder (ActiveRain)

How is that better than having your own video editing software? Especially when there's a monthly fee? And will Mixpo have the same extensive capabilities as personal software?

Lisa - I can't say that using Mixpo is better than your own video editing software.  I do know mixpo has tools that you won't find in most video editing applications ie: Links embedded in video, SEO options, hosting etc.  I also know that many Real Estate Professionals don't want to spend the hundreds of dollars and time it takes to learn video editing software, they just want simple and professional.  Mixpo may not be for everyone, AR is just making it available for those who need or see the value and benefit.   In reference to the extent of capabilities?  It has some tools you won't get elsewhere, but it is no comparison to Adobe Premier or some of the other High End Hollywood type video editing applications.

One really nice feature, it's all on line. No software, no computer to have to carry around, access from any computer with internet etc.  It's great for those who want easy access, ease of use, and some new and useful tools with video that no other software or host currently provides.  I use Pinnacle Studio, Adobe Premier, and Mixpo as my video editing and production tools, each has it's own unique features and capabilities, just depends on the project at hand. :-) Sorry for such a long response, thought this might help though...   :-)

04/18/2008 09:54 PM by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Builder (ActiveRain)

Lane - I checked with Mixpo about your question.  They let me know that you will have the ability to download your files from their server to be hosted where ever you want soon.  If you are not a subscriber, or you cancel, they would have to remove the library where your videos would be hosted.  If you downloaded whatever you created there, you'd have no losses if you canceled.  I checked with some other hosting sites, and this is a standard protocol for ALL of them.  Great question, thanks for asking it.  :-)

04/18/2008 10:00 PM by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Builder (ActiveRain)

Very interesting stuff. Very tempting. Another $29 nad another sparring sessin with my wife, who would scream that we have so many gadgets and software and whatever you can imagine, and we do not put it to good use.

And she is right. Then you are right too.

Tough luck

04/19/2008 12:26 AM by Jon Zolsky (FunCoast Realty LLC)

Jon - I understand totally.  I'd be lying if I said I hadn't experienced those sessions myself.  This is not something anyone has to do, it's available only if they want to, and feel it would be beneficial.  I would not want anyone to spend unnecessarily or have any conflicts because of it.  Thanks for sharing your comment and your honesty so openly.  Balance is so important, and it's what we all seek!!

Brad...  this is awesome....  but a fee?  I thought you were paying for this....   I think this opens up so many possibilities.....   what about 1 month free trial?  Okay, so I am pushing it... lol   I first need to buy my flip video, then Mixpo, and then my Brad Andersohn self-help book.  ;o)   Seriously, thanks for putting this together...

Here's a sample of how much fun a video can be
and what it can do for your business.  This is not a Mixpo edited video, but the content is worth the view.  It's fun, memorable, and shows how just being a little creative can set you apart.  Enjoy this video from our fellow AR members, Bob and Annie Pacieznik.

Hello Brad, you did it again!  You are so on the cutting edge.  I will do my best to try it and learn it but it seems that lack of time is my major issue.

Thanks for doing so much for us!

Thank you

Marzena - thanks for the puppy "love", very cute!!  :-)  I will say this, if you know how to add this little animated .gif file to a comment on AR, you'll have no problems at all with video or mixpo.

Time is everyone's biggest challenge and that's not just related to Blogging.  Email alone can take its toll on our time management skills, but sharpening those skills is a life long endeavor.

Managing time is no more difficult than managing our lives sometimes.  We have to do the things in life that are most important to us, no matter what investment of time that takes.  Living life with no regrets should be our ultimate goal, then time won't really matter as much anymore.  That's my Bradism for today!  LOL!~  :-)))

Brad...I've used video on my website for about 2 years now and already have a camcorder and editing software (which I'm not overly thrilled with), BUT...my issue has always been WHERE the videos are uploaded to.  Google and UTube never produced good quality.  So my questions are this:

1) Where are your mixpo videos uploaded to? AR, Mixpo?
2) How many or how much can you upload? As you know, google video is unlimited and free. I read something on mixpo a while back on their site and I thought I saw something about like a 500 meg limit of uploaded files.  Can you clarify that?

THANKS!  I'm looking forward to using this soon!

Soon I will try this video thing. I have been working my way into things a little slowly. Video scares me still. This sounds like a great tool though.

Thanks for the info brad.  I am hoping to launch first home tv  in the near future, so we will be needing all the video help we can get.

Wondering how it compares to TBWS, which has contact management?  Thx

Justin - I'm not aware of Mixpo ever being free, I do know you can't get it just by going to their website, it's some kind of Business to Business arrangement.  As far as the other video platforms out there, it's really a matter of preference.  One has features and benefits that the others don't and visa versa.  Kinda like IBM and Mac!

OMG!  Did I type that out loud?  Sorry guys, no comparison...didn't mean to do that! Ooops!!  There is no comparison between IBM and Mac.  JT, that was for you!  (Big Smile)  :-)))))

David - your video's are uploaded to mixpo.com.  The embed code can then be placed anywhere you desire.  Soon the will have the tools available to allow uploading to other video warehouses, libraries, and hosts.  As far as amounts uploaded or limitations? None, unlimited...within normal limits! LOL!~  I have not heard that there is any limit to size or storage using mixpo.  Let me know if you need any help at all. I'm Here and Happy to do it.

Christy - I will hold your hand through the entire process if you need!  You know I will!  :-)  The only thing to fear about video is "Fear" itself!  You know where to find me.

Ken - I'd love to hear more about that and help out if I can, sounds very interesting. Let's chat more this next week if you have some time.  I think there may be a pretty good "exchange in value" opportunity there.  :-)

Mary Anne - I'm not sure you can compare the two, I am very familiar with both, I even know Frank Garay and Brian Stevens personally from TBWS, and I'd have to say that they are different platforms and used for different purposes entirely.  In fact, they may even compliment each other.  I have TBWS for one side of my business, and Mixpo for the other.  Sorry I can't help more, it's just my observation and opinion for what it's worth!  :-))))

Both have contact management capabilities and are both very powerful and beneficial video tools.  If you're not Vlogging, then you're not Blogging!  :-)

Awesome... I've suspected video will be the next big thing in marketing as bandwidths increase in more and more households.  It's a great way to build rapport with potential clients faster as they can see you in live motion which makes it seem as if they already know you.

I'll be reading up on everything I can find about this.  Thanks
