They Just Want Someone To Talk To!

I don't typically blog about anything but real estate but I had to switch things up today.  

I get so many chat requests from random people through my google+.  Many of them are request from men that are strangers.  I typically block them after they make a couple of attempts that I refuse.  I started to research some of the profiles of the people requesting a conversation only to realize that most of them are currently deployed soldiers.  

Today I decided to respond to one that I researched and confirmed that he was a legitimate soldier on active duty.  It just turned out that he was lonely and missing home.  He has a 16 year old son and he is on the other side of the world.  Of course it is important to do your research before entertaining conversations with "just anyone".  

There was nothing off color about our conversation at all.  He just talked and I listened.  Of course I don't share my personal info but then again, he didn't ask for any.  He really just wanted someone to tell his stories to.  

I can't imagine how difficult it is to be on the other side of the world with no family or friends.  The things I complain about as I lay my head down on my nice comfortable pillows every night just don't seem half as bad after hearing how these soldiers life.  How these men and women tough it out in their horrific temporary homes.  

It was such a good feeling knowing that my response made this man's day.
