Alright, I just got my NEW BlackBerry 8130 up and running. I have to still connect my e-mail, but that will be done by tomorrow morning.

As a past fan of Blacberry's, I had the older larger more cumbersome model, I believe the 8710 or something like that.  The key pad took some training and getting used to, but all in all it is pretty sweet...

I had Nextel and switched over to Sprint (same company different networks) and for all of the services I NOW get for the same price as the basic Nextel service, I am in heaven...

Anyways, this is the NEW BlackBerry Blog Site for Realtors and Professionals in the know...

Please post your new tricks, ideas, problems and solutions you have with your BlackBerry...

Ryan - I have that same phone (white) and I love it. I'm still learning about all the things it can do, but so far it fits my needs.

Oh, I wanted a white one, but got the black one. It was either that or pink and I thought pink might not be the correct color heading into a meeting...

Does anyone know who I can transfer all of my contact info from my old phone to the new BlackBerry without doing it one by one manually?

Ryan-Is that the one that is called the Pearl? I've been wanting a Blackberry for a while, but need to have a few more closings first.

I'm with Verizon. The Pearl does not have the full keyboard but people say it is really easy to get used to the predictive text. True? The other Verizon alternative is the 8830 "World Edition", with full QWERTY keyboard, but a bigger phone.

Yes, it is the Pearl. I got my wife the LG RUMOR and it has a Full Key Board and Internet as well, but the BlackBerry Pearl does more in the overall applications.

Yes the keyboard does take some getting used to, but once you start getting it down, the computer recognizes words and will finish the word for you making the typing go alot faster.

Once thing I am experiencing is that you need to turn off the BlackBerry everynight and then turn it back on so the applications can upload and work from the restart mode.

All in all, I am happy with the device.

Took a web tour on my BlackBerry Pearl yesterday and it was great. The only bad part is some applications such as logging onto the local MLS, the BlackBerry would NOT open into specific listings.

Anyone else have this issue?

I have been waiting and lurking thinking about one of these smart phones. My problem has been the cost, is it justified. The factor of always being at work, is it really necessary. Finally the size, I need something not too big. The pearl looks great but I doubt if my sausage fingers will work on it.

You guys may have convinced me though. I going to look at it again.

Ryan, thanks for sharing. I have consider changing to blackberry from the treo. I have to go on the web to my email. A blackberry will automatic connect to the your email?

The BlackBerry is great for e-mail, I hvae two of my accounts set up on my phone and it only took me abut 5 minutes to do so.

As for teh keyboard, it is not bad, the BlackBerry starts to remember your words and makes it alot easier to type.

if you need a full keyboard, try the LG Rumor, it gives you e-mail as well and if you have Sprint or trade to sprint it is only $49.

The BlackBerry cost me $99 after rebates...

Keep us up to-date on the features and available hardware I can't get enough services in the mountains yet to bother but a few more towers and It will be worth the expense to do a blackberry or other option that may offer same or better features.

Ryan, thanks for all the information and tips.  Someday I too will own a cool phone.  Right now I'm with a basic phone.  My broker say I should get a Treo.  Is there much difference?

Yes, one is based off Windows software, while the other one is Palm OS.

Both are great, go with the one you find easier to use.

GE just announced that they will have their EKey locking systems set for BlackBerry devices by mid year and should be available to all board members using hte Super Key / Active Key / E-Key system within this year.

I find this to bea  great advantage, as it now allows me to put the program into my smart phone BlacBerrry 8130 Pearl, so I do NOT have to carry around an extra e-key device.

Just thought I would pass along this update...

70 Day report on the BlackBerry 8130...

So far so fine.  I would rather have a full keyboard such as the LG Rumor has, but I love all of the extra's on the 8130.  I am on the road alot and having a better internal signal for cell towers would be a HUGE benefit for me, as we are mostly rural around Southwestern Michigan along Lake Michigan.

I also have noticed problems aquiring access to certain web pages as the local MLS... NOT good as when I went to purchase this, was told it would work with the MLS.  Also sites such as ActiveRain.com will not boot as the PDF script is not available on this model...

I can opt for an expanded memory card, but have yet to have the time to do so.

Over all I love the size of the phone as it slips into any pocket, but the absence of a full keyboard & as well as not being able to access everything on the Internet or open all documents makes me take pause to purchasing this pricy phone in the future if something went wrong with the current one...

The camera is incredible, yet you can NOT TEXT photos to others, you have to have their e-mails stored into your contacts nor is downloading ringtones easily done...

I give this phone a 7 out of 10 stars so far...
