SALAD ON A STICK - great for BBQs, Potlucks & Parties in Kingston, ON!

From Emo's Eating Emporium,  a great way to serve salad for everyone.  You can put anything and everything on a stick and then serve dressing on the side.  It's like Cobb Salad on a stick!

Enjoy the fresh produce that is available at your local markets or farmers' markets.

We have a fantastic market in Kingston, ON.  You can find Canada's oldest market at Springer Square in downtown Kingston.  

(Open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, April through to November)

A fresh & creamy Buttermilk Dressing goes beautifully with this (as does your favourite)

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup minced shallots (from 2 shallots)
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt

Whisk buttermilk, mayonnaise, shallots, dill, lemon juice, and salt in a small bowl until well combined. Season with pepper. Cover, and refrigerate until cold, about 30 minutes.

Michele Connors it makes food fun -  I always remember the movie RainMan and eating cheese puffs on a stick which keeps your fingers from turning orange too!  Brilliant :)

I just noticed today that my dill has nearly bit the dust.  I can still have a second crop when it seeds.  But I will have to pop a little more in the freezer for winter. That dressing sounds wonderful.

Roger D. Mucci there's nothing worse than trying to balance a plate and have to use plastic utensils - a recipe for disaster!  Stuff on a stick is always more fun.

Tammy Lankford  I love dill but it isn't something that is welcomed in my home with 2 out of 3 giving it a thumbs down!   The dressing is really quite tasty.
