Upcoming Garden Tour Helps Us Learn More About Sustainable Gardening
"Let me tell you about the birds and the bees, and the flowers and the trees, and the moon up above, and a thing called love."
Those of us who love to garden often feel a kinship with nature. Sadly though, many green thumbs still rely upon toxic chemicals to keep their flowers and veggies in top shape. There are direct links between many legal gardening elixers and the dwindling numbers of bees, butterflies, and other beneficial creatures. Fortunately, if we adjust our expectations just a bit, we can find organic gardening methods that work in harmony with nature, not against it.
The Natural Garden Tour
If you'd like to learn more about sustainable gardening, and visit 10 beautiful gardens utilizing organic techniques, be sure to attend The Natural Garden Tour on Sunday, July 26, 2015. Particpants will learn more about the benefits of using native plants, conserving water with rain barrels, attracting (and supporting) beneficial insects, alternatives to water-dependent lawn, and other topics.
This annual event is a great way to learn more about making your yard a beautiful and healthy oasis for pets and children while protecting waterways and wildlife. You'll get a chance to talk with some of Clark County's most successful sustainable gardeners. This is a self-guided (free) tour between the hours of 10 and 4PM, so you're in control of the schedule.
Don Benton, Clark County Environmental Services Directors says, "This is a fantastic way to learn from some of the best sustainable gardeners in Clark County."
