Sustainable Garden Tour in Clark County, WA

Upcoming Garden Tour Helps Us Learn More About  Sustainable Gardening

"Let me tell you about the birds and the bees, and the flowers and the trees, and the moon up above, and a thing called love."

Those of us who love to garden often feel a kinship with nature. Sadly though, many green thumbs still rely upon toxic chemicals to keep their flowers and veggies in top shape. There are direct links between many legal gardening elixers and the dwindling numbers of bees, butterflies, and other beneficial creatures. Fortunately, if we adjust our expectations just a bit, we can find organic gardening methods that work in harmony with nature, not against it.

The Natural Garden Tour

If you'd like to learn more about sustainable gardening, and visit 10 beautiful gardens utilizing organic techniques, be sure to attend The Natural Garden Tour on Sunday, July 26, 2015. Particpants will learn more about the benefits of using native plants, conserving water with rain barrels, attracting (and supporting) beneficial insects, alternatives to water-dependent lawn, and other topics.

This annual event is a great way to learn more about making your yard a beautiful and healthy oasis for pets and children while protecting waterways and wildlife. You'll get a chance to talk with some of Clark County's most successful sustainable gardeners. This is a self-guided (free) tour between the hours of 10 and 4PM, so you're in control of the schedule.

Don Benton, Clark County Environmental Services Directors says, "This is a fantastic way to learn from some of the best sustainable gardeners in Clark County."

Debb,

Love the song, I would love the tour...I am sure I can pick up some new tips, and we have always refrained from sprays and chemicals, since we had furry creatures, and lots of birds around our various homes.  We use organic dirt and fertilizers.  A

Thanks Hannah, me too. :)

Noah, wish you could tag along.

Alexandra - yep, I know there's always something new to learn. We are buying a property in the country soon. The seller shared her recipe for compost tea. She is 100% organic and a wealth of knowledge. I just love her (and her hubby). Buying their home is such a natural fit of us. We are so excited for a new adventure.

Debb: This is a smart way to educate budding gardners and even those who have been tilling the soil for years. Going natural is the way to go!

I'm so excited to be getting into a place with the room for a large organic veggie garden. Happy days of digging in the dirt await me.

What fun this would be. And what a wonderful way to educate others on what they can do with their own gardens.

I used to garden alot but seem to take little time for it any more - most of our gardening is in pots, and a drought tolerant one we are working on in place of a small patch of grass so we don't have to irrigate. But I sure appreciate beautiful garden by those who are good at it.

Have a great weekend

Jeff

I may get involved in this event next year - offer the place up on the tour. We are moving to a spot with a little more than an acre. The sellers have always used organic and sustainable methods. Mrs Seller is sharing her juju with me - I'll be sharing some of her tricks soon in my blogs. Stay tuned... ;)

Hi Debb - That would be a great way to spend a Sunday. We don't use chemicals or additives that aren't good for the environment or its residents, and more knowledge usually equates to less work making that successful.

OH, Debb, this is RIGHT up my alley! Are you going? I think I need to tap into your "green" expertise on some gardening approaches, now that I have such great gardening opportunities! (I'm going crazy at the ranch--so much space and sun and areas to plant things--beyond excited!!)

That Sunday, I am taking a trip to Tualatin/then Canby to meet Pearl, a horse that I'm hoping to acquire. Fingers crossed!!

And P.S. LOVE Backyard Birdshop--one of my favs.
