Curb appeal, that all important "first impression," just went over the top in Cary, and all over Wake County, NC, with the opening of the annual Azalea blooming season!

Azaleas

Riotous color adorns the most humble homes, or beautiful estates, many from plantings of a generation or two ago.

Stoneybrook Estates, Cary, NC

I don't think there is another common landscape planting that does more for curb appeal.  As much as I crow about crape myrtles, and dote on dogwoods, the azalea claims the crown in seasonal color bursts!

Azaleas

Individual blooms are gorgeous in their details:

You can see dramatic massive plantings of one color:

Or a mix of several colors in one bedding area:

Azaleas 018

Either way, the azalea puts on a beautiful annual spring show that is hard to beat!

Great photos Mike.

Here in Newnan GA, we are past peak, the white azaleas are turning brown and the dogwoods are leafing out. I love Spring color but it is so fleeting, isn't it?

Richard,

We are passing the peak ourselves, but some varieties will bloom for a while, and again later.

White dogwoods are just about done, with the pink dogwoods taking over.  I need to stop the car and get some pink dogwood shots...

It does pass fast!

Great pictures.  Mine are always two weeks or so behind.  I have people in Cary and may look you up to buy a second home there.

Gene,

I caught a lot of azaleas at their peak this year, for once.

And, a second home?  I'll be ready when you are.

Great pictures, Mike.  Very beautiful colors.  I always look forward to spring.  We should be in full color here in Michigan in a few weeks.
